INTRO: Los Dos Constructores

Story of my Grandpa and Grandma
Key Verse:
Inheritance: The firstborn son traditionally received a double portion of his father's inheritance, including land, livestock, and other possessions.
Leadership:The birthright often entailed leadership within the family, including the role of priest and judge.
Spiritual Significance:In some interpretations, the birthright also carries a spiritual dimension, representing a position of favor and covenantal blessing.
The Story of Esau and Jacob:The story of Esau and Jacob in Genesis illustrates the concept of the birthright, where Esau, the elder son, sells his birthright to Jacob for a bowl of stew, highlighting the potential for misuse or loss of this privilege.
Loss of Birthright:The narrative suggests that the birthright can be lost or transferred, as seen in the case of Esau and Jacob, where Jacob ultimately receives the blessing intended for Esau.
God's Blessing:The concept of the birthright is often intertwined with the idea of God's blessing, suggesting that God's favor can extend beyond birth order or social status.
The Covenant:The birthright is seen as a part of the covenantal relationship between God and his people, with the firstborn son playing a key role in carrying forward the covenantal promises.
What a tragedy!
In a dramatic turn of events, Esau sold his birthright to his younger twin brother, Jacob, for a simple bowl of stew. This transaction was devastating for Esau, as the birthright held immense importance in their culture. It was not just a matter of inheritance; it symbolized honor, leadership, and the blessings of their father, Isaac.
Esau, exhausted and desperate from hunger, acted impulsively, trading away his future for immediate gratification. The weight of this decision haunted him later, as he realized the profound impact it had on his identity and legacy. (Your actions today determine your legacy tomorrow) This moment marked a pivotal point in their relationship, deepening the rift between the brothers and illustrating the grave consequences of valuing short-term desires over long-term significance, especially in the context of heritage and familial bonds. Esau's loss of his birthright became a lasting lesson on the value of what we possess and the irreparable nature of certain choices.
What led Esau to make this impulsive decision?
in this christian journey have two choices.
To be like Jacob - leave a Legacy which comes with delayed gratification and discipline and sacrifice.
To be Like Esau - to be carnal and cave in to instant desires and immediate gratification.
What lead Esau down this path that we can learn from and not fall into this same trap! The bible is for our learning. Lets learn through the wisdom of other.
Faint: pertaining to being a weakened physical condition, requiring food, drink and rest to recuperate.
Edom -
A geographical region south of the Dead Sea; a kingdom depicted as a constant enemy of Israel.
Esau let himself starve! He didn’t keep the fire alive!
10 And the disciples came, and said unto him, Why speakest thou unto them in parables?
11 He answered and said unto them, Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given.
12 For whosoever hath, to him shall be given, and he shall have more abundance: but whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken away even that he hath.
Here are ways to lose the fire in your life and fall into quickly because they you are spiritually week your are most vulnerable. And be careful who you allowed to speak to you when you are most vulnerable. That is when the enemy attacks your mind, at your weakest moment!
Use example of difficult emotions when a stimulus occurs!
Be aware of temptations to give up what you want. Most for what you want now.
1. **Neglecting Prayer and Worship**
When we stop communicating with God through prayer and worship, we lose intimacy with Him. This void can make us more susceptible to worldly temptations, leading to behaviors that gratify our flesh rather than align with God's will.
2. **Isolating from Community**
Avoiding fellowship with other believers can lead to spiritual desolation. In isolation, we may give in to doubts and desires without accountability, making it easier to indulge in sinful behaviors.
3. **Ignoring Biblical Teachings**:
When we choose not to read or engage with the Bible, we can become misled by the world’s values. Without scripture guiding us, it becomes easier to justify immoral actions or succumb to temptations.
4. **Compromising Values**:
Gradually abandoning our core beliefs or ethical standards can lead to rationalizing sinful choices. This erosion of our spiritual foundation can cause us to prioritize desires of the flesh over our spiritual wellbeing.
5. **Chasing Materialism**:
not defining needs verses wants the desire to chase of wealth over the expense your your spiritual life. Leading to 2-3 jobs.
Focusing heavily on wealth or possessions can distract us from our relationship with God. As we chase material gains, we can easily succumb to greed, lust, or pride, leading us further away from spiritual nourishment.
6. **Engaging in Habitual Sin**:
Allowing ourselves to entertain small sins can lead to greater transgressions. Justifying actions like gossip or dishonesty can create a slippery slope toward more serious indulgences, further distancing us from God.
7. **Unhealthy Relationships**
Surrounding ourselves with individuals who promote negative behaviors or influence us to engage in worldly activities can pull us away from God. Peer pressure and temptation can lead us to compromise our faith.
8. **Pursuing Instant Gratification**:
In a culture that promotes immediate pleasure, seeking fulfillment through fleeting desires (like substance abuse, lust, or entertainment) can divert us from deeper spiritual satisfaction found in God.
9. **Neglecting Differences Between Good and Evil**:
As we draw away from God, our moral compass can become blurred, leading us to embrace behaviors that seem acceptable in society but contradict God's teachings.
End with your story of Noemi praying over me in my moment of struggle and that God for Godly woman.
flip it with:
You can either let yourself starve and fall into sin or keep the fire alive for generations to come.
We see Jacob face a similar situation as Esau where he is alone and vulnerable to temptation and giving Jacob is about to face the biggest trial of his life where he is going to confront his brother and Jacob is expecting his brother to kill him for revenge, but the difference here is that Esau let himself starve physically, which can represent the flesh the carnel and Jacob was feeding his spiritual soul as he was isolated to pray and to the difference here is that when you are alone in the secret place with God and seeking him God is the one that initiates the conflict. We see here that it says that God wrestled with Jacob not the other way around.

Ultimately, it solidified his legacy as a key figure in the biblical narrative of faith.
I think God for my father and my grandparents who were men of prayer and Gaither likes to God. I back at my life and see what God has kept me from the first thing that comes to my a reflect is the prayers is their prayers. I think of the blessings, that he has kept has kept and sustained me he has not allowed me to fall into temptation.
Conclusion
Conclusion
It’s intriguing to see how Jacob and Esau were confronted with their greatest weaknesses in the most unexpected ways. For Esau, a robust and muscular man of the field, his vulnerability came through something as simple as food. Despite his physical prowess and skills as a hunter, he found himself tempted by hunger, which ultimately led to his impulsive decision to sell his birthright for a mere bowl of stew.
On the other hand, Jacob, often viewed as the “mama’s boy,” spent his time among the tents, where he may not have developed the same physical skills as his brother. He lacked the ability to wrestle or hunt, yet it was in this very area of confrontation—wrestling with God—that he was challenged to grow. This divine encounter forced Jacob to confront his insecurities and ultimately led to his transformation.
Through their opposing strengths and weaknesses, God orchestrated a profound lesson for both brothers, illustrating that our vulnerabilities can become the very means through which God challenges and refines us.
