So if you've got your bibles if you could open them to the Gospel of John, John chapter 19 and just three short versus today, 25 26 and 27 but hopefully they'll be something in this everyone. Particularly the ladies in the congregation so, it actually comes from the crucifixion account. We might be thinking, why you doing the crucifixion account, on Mother's Day is a bit heavy, but hopefully, you'll be able to see what the point. So,

Starting at verse 25 on page 1088.

So near the cross of Jesus. Stood, his mother. His mother's sister. Mary, the wife of clopas and Mary Magdalene. when Jesus told his mother that and the disciple, whom he loved standing nearby, he said to her woman, Here is your son. And to the disciple. Here is your mother. A that taunt time on. This disciple took her into his home. This is the one that lost. So if we could advance to the seven slice, thank you very much Tim. So I've been summoned here is your family. And we can think about that in a variety of ways.

We're hip-hop's, first and foremost to celebrate our mothers or to celebrate the joy we have in being a mother, or to celebrate what it's like to have all of those things.

So here is your family for that extends further in the life of the church. The church is an amazing creation of God. Where motherhood extends Beyond purple, logical method motherhood and it goes all into spiritual motherhood. Where a family of God has lots of moms Lots of lots of daughters. Lots of sons. It's a family that all fathers there are mothers, there are children in the life of the church. And this picture here is a microcosm of the church has a very small example of the church which was formed at the foot of the cross. as Jesus died to look at each of these verses have to tell us so near the cross of Jesus, Stood, his mother. I'm about to bear in mind that the disciples most of the disciples they were elsewhere they'd run away. They were faithful of their own lives. And yet here at the cross as her own son dies. Is his mom?

That we see a mother's faithfulness to her child. Can you imagine how the beginning of Luke's Gospel of Luke series? Mary received a prophecy, right? When Jesus was justified, the sword would pass her own soul to

And this is the moment. This is the moment when that sword. Is pissing herself. She sees she is going through. Unbelievable thing.

Show me the pain. That only a mother could feel about the child.

So Mary, is that. At the cross.

How many other Mary's are in the passage? Seems like the only Hebrew name that women had in those days was Mary. So we've got Mary, the mother of Jesus. Mary, the wife of croup I said, Mary Magdalene have been way, so it's three Mary's. Someone who's not 94 because then I wasn't married. So she's just Jesus's songs. Okay, so let's look at these these for women. Mary herself.

Probably with Ivar this time.

Joseph's not mentioned by this date. And the whole purpose of the story is to is for Jesus, to hand, Mary, over to John's Cafe. So Mary would have been on the Jersey side. Of course, it was still alive. So Mary is a Wither.

Very little security in life. She would have been able to perhaps live on some money that Joseph had left her, but I wouldn't have been any benefits of any kind, she's a valuable member of society.

But here she is at the foot of the cross. Watching her son died for the sins of the world.

then we have Mary's sister Jesus's arms. She's that. Supporting her sister supporting her family.

Mary's going through the deepest Possible Pain. And yet a woman. Her own sister is there to comfort her?

Maybe we treasure Sisterhood as something important. Biological Sisterhood. at Marketplace, I've seen two sisters who are completely estranged from one another, They didn't like each other, they pull them out. They had it on Acumen and through Marketplace, that relationship is being healed. Is something about the presence of God. Something about the example of Jesus heals relationships, that may be sisterly relationships in the life of a church that need to be healed.

So is her sister is there? Then you got married wife, who is this? Why she presumably as a younger woman. Married. I trust, family has younger women who are married. Has younger women, who would like to be married?

Boss, what's impulsive? I think this is something that all our Drew attention to is the actually who is Cliff House and why is play past mentioned, why is it important that she is the wife of Cliff House? Because even though they are at the foot of the cross, what changes has died? Clubhouse is likely. The disciple that met the resurrection of Jesus on the road after he was raised from the dead at the end of Luke's. Gospel. In chapter 24, they were two disciples on the road and Jesus appeared to them after he had risen from the dead. So within this story is possibly a clue.

To the resurrection of Jesus didn't stayed at the Easter day is true and real. The resurrected Jesus Will Come. So, we have a married young woman. Marucci clubhouse. At the heart of the church. The husband possibly a witness to the resurrection. Possibly even she was if you don't know who those two disciples while I could have been husband and wife,

And then we have Mary Magdalene. Single women. Had a very hard life. We don't know the exact details of a life, but a lot of things are said about Mary. I need to know the story. I wouldn't say it children are present but she's had a hard life.

And Jesus has rescued her from all kinds of things, including spiritual oppression. And so, you have this community of women from different walks of life.

Mary. Weather. Watching her own son died. Mary sister supporting her closest blood-relative Mary's woman posed to be a witness to the resurrection and Mary Magdalene probably single may be hoping for husband may be thinking one day, maybe I'll be a mom. Maybe one day I'll have to chance.

Churches on a great place to find a husband. By the way, I need to pray for more Godly men to join this congregation so that anyone who wants have Godly husband. Confined. What shall we do that? Men are not the solution to every problem in the world, believe you make.

The point is they are near the cross and there is one man that jump the best friend of Jesus. So near The Cross. Is wack Community is tonight. when people support, one another about a physical piece of wood about the death of Jesus for each and everyone of us, That is the common denominator that holds us all together as family. So it's actually coming to the foot of the cross which binds us together as a family. So the question is, is all you near The Cross. Not the cross for our unit. Would you be at that cross? I'd like to say I would be fat being mine. I probably wouldn't I'm sure the ladies in this conversation would be that alongside Mary alongside the three Marys and Mary's sister. Bus 26. When Jesus saw his mother there. And the disciple, whom he loved standing nearby. He said to her woman, here is your son.

Think about it. Jesus is on the cross. This is a difficult time.

And yet Jesus says he's not sparring in wood into himself. Into his own suffering, into his own difficulty into his old paint. Jesus is not sparring in wood into what he's going through. He's actually thinking out with me. Of those who are they at? Watching him, die, he's thinking of his mom.

We don't think about it often from the cross. Jesus told his mom, he loved her.

He was caring for her.

Even though he was in fine, he's so have fine at losing him.

And the deepest expression of his love for. His mom was to entrust her. To his best friend.

When Jesus told his mother there. And the disciple, whom he loved standing nearby. He said to her woman, here is your son. See. Jesus didn't just love his mom. From the cross. He was also at that time. He was loving his best friend says he was the disciple. The Jesus love.

He's wanting. To create family. From the cross. He's creating family right there is me saying, Mom, this is your son. Friends. This is jummah. And Jesus is creating family from the cross, even now because motherhood is not just about biological messages.

It's about finding family in the life of a charge. You can mouth of a younger Christian, you could be melted by an older Christian. You can be careful, then maybe widows in the congregation. Do you need songs? You need sons in the like they need to be looked after careful respected by the sons of the church. There is a role for the men head. We need to step up and love.

People in the chat, like John was prepared to love. His best friend's mom.

So, Jesus is loving. His mother and his best friend from the cross. He's creating family from the cross, and he's created this family from the cross. You calling us together to relate to one another as family. So here is your family. Here is your family. Bus 27. Here is your mother. And from that time on this disciple disciple, took her into his house.

Following Jesus.

It's not something that we just do on Sunday mornings.

John took Mary into his house. He's following a Jesus didn't just effect where he came on Sunday morning. It affected who he accepted into his home.

At the foot of the cross. It opens doors into office homes in a way that It doesn't happen in any other circumstance. We share our lives with another. We eat with one another. We've got host of roast coming up. We enjoy a big lunch because we eat together, Mary and John would have eaten together. They would have grown as family. So here is your family.

We have a widow. A sister. A young married woman a single.

We have John.

Beloved by Jesus, we have Mary being loved by Jesus. And we have new family, new relationships being created. So really isn't just about Mother's Day by logical moms huzzah. it's about the fact that church should be a place where the love of a mother is experienced in each and every person Young men should respect all the members of the congregation as they with respect to mother. Yeah, women should expect the same older women should teach younger women. How to love their families? How to love the children, how to love their husbands?

It's a place where we grow and we learn how to do family life goes, right? So here is your family. Shall we pray?

Father, we thank you for motherhood in all of its Glory. We thank you for the support that women can offer one another. in various walks of life, different stages of Life, different circumstances different struggles Lord, I pray that you would feel this chat with women who support one another as those within date at the foot of the cross, Would understand themselves also to be women who are near the cross. I pray that you would feel this church with Man Who Loved sacrificially unprepared to evade Jesus, when he asked them to do, good to those around them to respect and honor the women of the church. And we pray father God that you would create this church family into a family where monthly love is seen at night.
