Introduction
Back in the story of the FLOOD and the ARK.
We will overview a large portion of scripture today.
From chapter 7 into chapter 9.
Who was on the Ark?
Who was on the Ark?
1 And the Lord said unto Noah, Come thou and all thy house into the ark; for thee have I seen righteous before me in this generation.
2 Of every clean beast thou shalt take to thee by sevens, the male and his female: and of beasts that are not clean by two, the male and his female.
3 Of fowls also of the air by sevens, the male and the female; to keep seed alive upon the face of all the earth.
Noah, wife, son’s and their wives. (8 People.)
1 pair of unclean animals
7 pairs of clean animals
7 pairs of birds
——
Leviticus 11 explains which creatures were clean and unclean.
Here are a few of the clean and unclean animals in those lists:
Clean animals:
land animals that chew the cud and have a divided or split hoof,
such as cattle,
deer,
goats
sheep;
seafood with both fins and scales,
bluegill,
grouper,
cod;
certain birds,
chickens,
doves,
ducks;
insects
grasshoppers
locusts.
Unclean animals:
land animals that do not chew the cud
land animals that do not have a split hoof
pigs
dogs
cats
horses
donkeys
rats
seafood that does not have fins or scales,
shellfish
lobster
oysters
catfish
some birds,
owls
hawks
vultures
other animals
reptiles
amphibians.
The New Testament teaches that we are no longer under the dietary laws of Old Testament.
However, modern nutritionists have noted that the listings of clean and unclean foods in the Old Testament is actually a good template for a healthy diet.
——-
1 And the Lord said unto Noah, Come thou and all thy house into the ark; for thee have I seen righteous before me in this generation.
When it was time for the flood, God instructed Noah to enter into the Ark.
He tells Noah that he will cause it to rain in 7 days.
For yet seven days, and I will cause it to rain upon the earth forty days and forty nights; and every living substance that I have made will I destroy from off the face of the earth.
——-
10 And it came to pass after seven days, that the waters of the flood were upon the earth.
11 In the six hundredth year of Noah’s life, in the second month, the seventeenth day of the month, the same day were all the fountains of the great deep broken up, and the windows of heaven were opened.
12 And the rain was upon the earth forty days and forty nights.
There were two sources of water…
Fountains of the deep.
underground water supplies.
Rain
Water came down as well as up.
And they that went in, went in male and female of all flesh, as God had commanded him: and the Lord shut him in.
———
Was it a world-wide flood?
Was it a world-wide flood?
This is one point of contention that many people have with the Bible narrative of Noah and the great flood.
It goes something like this…
It is impossible to have that much water to cover the whole earth.
How can the water be deep enough to cover mount Everest! That is ridiculous.
A regional flood is the only thing that makes sense.
There is not way to repopulate the earth with people and animals in such a short time. There had to be other survivors.
It is hyperbole when the bible says all the earth and the whole earth.
And there a many more objections from non-believers and believers alike.
I want to share the clear teaching of bible concerning the scope of the flood.
——-
7 And the Lord said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth me that I have made them.
8 But Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord.
It was a world-wide flood and only Noah and those on the ark survived.
It was a world-wide flood and only Noah and those on the ark survived.
I understand that context reveals the true meaning of word usage.
And I do agree, that not every usage of the word “ALL” and “WHOLE” in the bible have stringent exact meaning. Much the same how we often use words to convey sense and meaning while not intending to be exact.
However, that same context will reveal the true meaning.
Let’s look at how many different bible verses and bible authors, all use verbiage that clearly indicates a global flood.
What did GOD day about it?
And the Lord said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth me that I have made them.
And God said unto Noah, The end of all flesh is come before me; for the earth is filled with violence through them; and behold, I will destroy them with the earth.
And behold, I, even I, do bring a flood of waters upon the earth, to destroy all flesh, wherein is the breath of life, from under heaven; and every thing that is in the earth shall die.
Of fowls also of the air by sevens, the male and the female; to keep seed alive upon the face of all the earth.
Implication is that without them, there is NO other seed.
For yet seven days, and I will cause it to rain upon the earth forty days and forty nights; and every living substance that I have made will I destroy from off the face of the earth.
And the waters prevailed [rose], and were increased greatly upon the earth; and the ark went upon the face of the waters.
And the waters prevailed exceedingly upon the earth; and all the high hills, that were under the whole heaven, were covered.
Fifteen cubits upward did the waters prevail; and the mountains were covered.
Depending the cubit length in use, this could be approximately 23-27 foot of water.
If that is what it took to cover the hills and mountains, it tells us that the pre-flood earth was rather flat compared to today. In fact the bible gives evidence that our current landscape was shaped by the flood.
(For the next few Wednesday evenings we are going watch a video about this very thing.)
Tall structures like Mount Everest were shaped post-flood.
In fact, they have found marine fossils on the top of mount Everest. Revealing it was pushed up from water at some point in the past.
And all flesh died that moved upon the earth, both of fowl, and of cattle, and of beast, and of every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth, and every man:
Again the general claim, and then the specificity, naming each category. God is quantifying his statement.
Still not enough?
all in whose nostrils was the breath of life, of all that was in the dry land, died.
Keeps going!!
And every living substance was destroyed which was upon the face of the ground, both man, and cattle, and the creeping things, and the fowl of the heaven; and they were destroyed from the earth: and Noah only remained alive, and they that were with him in the ark.
God continues to push this world wide catastrophe in his language. And concludes ONLY NOAH and the ARK was Alive!
Now, as the waters receded Noah sent a dove to see if sufficient land had appeared…
but the dove found no rest for the sole of her foot, and she returned unto him into the ark, for the waters were on the face of the whole earth: then he put forth his hand, and took her, and pulled her in unto him into the ark.
All together Noah was in the Ark about 1 year.
How many local or regional floods have you known to last a year?
and I will remember my covenant, which is between me and you and every living creature of all flesh; and the waters shall no more become a flood to destroy all flesh.
His covenant was with all the same categories that were destroyed.
These are the three sons of Noah: and of them was the whole earth overspread.
We see another statement that teaches the only remains of humanity was Noah and his family.
——
What did ISAIAH say?
When Isaiah was relaying Gods message to Isreal about how much he loved them and would not forsake them…
He makes this statement…
For this is as the waters of Noah unto me: For as I have sworn that the waters of Noah should no more go over the earth; So have I sworn that I would not be wroth with thee, nor rebuke thee.
God is saying that he made a promise to Noah, that he will not break, and he too made a promise to Isreal.
What did JESUS day?
26 And as it was in the days of Noe, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man.
27 They did eat, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, and the flood came, and destroyed them all.
28 Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot; they did eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they builded;
29 but the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all.
30 Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of man is revealed.
When CHRIST returns with judgement will it be local judgement or global judgement?
37 But as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
38 For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark,
39 and knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
Again, Christ coming, is that a local event or a global event?
What did Apostle PETER say?
which sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water.
States that only 8 people survived.
and spared not the old world, but saved Noah the eighth person, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly;
Again, only 8 people.
———
Not every usage of the words ALL, WHOLE or EVERY throughout the entire bible mean exactly ALL and WHOLE and EVERY each time they are used.
However, that the multiple authors and reiteration of the story of Noah clearly point to a WORLD COVERING CATASTROPHE.
No passage about the flood indicates that it was a local or regional event.
———
Not only does the verbiage of the flood narrative speak to a world-wide flood that destroyed all air breathing creatures, the PROMISE of GOD also supports a world-wide flood.
9 And I, behold I establish my covenant with you and with your seed after you;
10 and with every living creature that is with you, of the fowl, of the cattle, and of every beast of the earth with you; from all that go out of the ark, to every beast of the earth.
11 And I will establish my covenant with you; neither shall all flesh be cut off any more by the waters of a flood; neither shall there any more be a flood to destroy the earth.
The rainbow promise
The rainbow promise
God makes this promise…
I make a covenant, a promise, to every living thing of land that breaths air.
That I will not kill all flesh again by a world-wide flood.
Neither will destroy the earth by flood again.
The RAINBOW was a reminder for US and for GOD of this PROMISE.
In this promise, GOD reiterates again, that two things took place…
All air breathing life died.
The world was destroyed by a flood.
These are two things that are abundantly clear from all REFERENCES to the flood in the bible.
YET, some people choose to ignore this and insist that is was a only local flood.
For a moment,
Let’s assume two things true…
The flood was local and not global.
Not all air breathing life died in the flood.
Let’s re-read the rainbow covenant again with these two beliefs in mind…
And I will establish my covenant with you; neither shall all flesh be cut off any more by the waters of a flood; neither shall there any more be a flood to destroy the earth.
Have air breathing animals and people died in local or regional floods since the days of Noah? YES!
Have there been floods that have destroyed parts of the earth since the flood of Noah? YES!
I hope you can logic this out….
If it was a local flood - then the rainbow promise makes no sense whatsoever!
It makes GOD A LIAR!
The only way the RAINBOW PROMISE is cohesive is if the the flood was GLOBAL and DESTROYED all air breathing life.

Summary
Summary
Why share this with you? Why take the time to go through this?
Because I want you to see the biblical evidence for a global flood event.
Because I want you to TRUST the bible and what it teaches!
If the scriptures do not teach truth, then what rubric can a person use to decipher what is true and what is not?
There are massive negative theological implications if the scriptures do not teach truth.
If there was not a GLOBAL FLOOD then…
God is not telling you the truth
Moses
Isaiah
Jesus
Peter
For me, that is a really massive problem.

Call to Action
Call to Action
What is the take-away for today?
You can trust the teaching of scripture above the knowledge of humanity.
I want you to be able to believe and trust the scriptures.
We may never know how God did it...
There are many aspects and theories that …
The atmospheric conditions were changed and a great amount of moisture was released from air. (gen 1-3)
The land was gathered as one big continent (gen 1:9)
Fountains of the deep breaking up is evidenced by the tectonic plates, and that the crust of the earth sank as water came from underneath. and began to move and shift along the surface.
The plates collided and pushed places up into mountains, and down into the sea floor, making sea basins.
The point is, we do not know.
And, we do not need to know.
However, We do need to understand and believe what GOD has shared with us in the bible.

I don’t fully understand…
Sin
Death
Salvation
Jesus sacrifice
Forgiveness
Grace
Mercy
God’s Love
Eternity
The wonderful thing is I do not need to understand all things, else I would be GOD, all I need to do is trust him.
I do not know how Jesus was
born of a virgin.
Killed and resurrected.
Forgives my sin
I do know that I need someone to help me in this life, and I come to Jesus in belief.

1 Corinthians 11:23-30
1 Corinthians 11:23-30
1 Corinthians 11:23–30 (KJV 1900)
23 For I have received of the Lord that which also I delivered unto you, That the Lord Jesus the same night in which he was betrayed took bread:
24 And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me.
25 After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me.
26 For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew [proclaim] the Lord’s death till he come.
27 Wherefore whosoever shall eat this bread, and drink this cup of the Lord, unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord.
28 But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup.
29 For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation [judgment] to himself, not discerning the Lord’s body.
30 For this cause many are weak and sickly among you, and many sleep.
INTRODUCTION
INTRODUCTION
I will ask our deacons and trustees to come and be seated on the front row in preparation for passing out the elements.
At the Last Supper that Jesus had with his disciples, the feast of the Passover, he spoke of his betrayal, he instructed them what to do.
Since that time the church has been instructed to observe this time of remembrance.
It is during this time that I ask you to reflect and remember the sacrifice that Lord made for you!
This a special time of remembrance of what Christ has done for each one of us.
It is calling a time-out on life.
It is calling a time-out on life.
i) Put everything on hold
iv) And focus our thoughts on the sacrifice that was made.
We Remember the death of Christ
We Remember the death of Christ
We remember his broken body
We remember his broken body
i) Bread
ii) “breaking of bread” picturing his broken body
iii) His body that was broken for you
We remember his shed blood
We remember his shed blood
ii) Remember his shed blood
iii) Heb 9:22 And almost all things are by the law purged with blood, and without shedding of blood is no remission.
As approach this time we are to Examine ourselves
As approach this time we are to Examine ourselves
(2) It is a time of self-examination and introspection
To examine if you are partaking with proper reverence for what this represents.
Some of the people at Corinth turned the Lord’s Supper into a party scene.
Some were bringing lavish meals and wine, and getting drunk.
Some were poor and could not afford to bring food.
Paul reminds them that they are all in Christ.
That this flagrant behavior was not appropriate.
Paul said they were taking it in an unworthy manner.
(3) If you take it in an unworthy manner, making a mockery of His sacrifice,
(a) Many Sick
(b) Many Sleep – die a premature death because of this.
(4) This is a serious matter – because his sacrifice for you is a very serious matter.
Participate voluntarily
Participate voluntarily
i) You do not have to participate.
ii) You may have certain reasons, that is between you and the Lord. No one else’s business.
So keep your eyes on the Lord and on yourself. Don’t worry about what other people do or don’t do.
2) It should be approached with reverence.
a) With the right attitude
b) Realizing that the reason for this remembrance is because he gave his body and shed his blood your sin, for my sin.
3) At this time if you would like to change seat or be close to family.
———-
14 And when the hour was come, he sat down, and the twelve apostles with him.
15 And he said unto them, With desire I have desired to eat this passover with you before I suffer:
16 for I say unto you, I will not any more eat thereof, until it be fulfilled in the kingdom of God.
17 And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and said, Take this, and divide it among yourselves:
18 for I say unto you, I will not drink of the fruit of the vine, until the kingdom of God shall come.
