Life is not always easy.

We know this to be true and yet, we strive to making easier for us. I know I am always looking for ways to simplify and make things a little easier. Work smarter not harder, is a phrase we have that encompasses this.
Sometimes easy is not always healthy.

It is much easier to not deal with emotions than to process. It is much easier not to confront and keep the peace than be a peacemaker. It is easier to do whatever I want than think before acting.
Jesus is not always easy.

As we open up our passage this morning we see this to be true.
Jesus is not like any other Rabbi or teacher.

The scribe had followed someone before, after all he was able to interpret the Law.
Following Jesus is not always comfortable.

His phrase in verse 20 does not indicate true homelessness as we understand it but instead the idea that he would not just sit in a place and let others come to him. He would be out and about.

Verse 22 is filled with all kinds of troubles and things we just don’t truly understand. Yet, the only other time in Scripture where someone was commanded to not bury someone was when God spoke to Jeremiah and Ezekiel. Here Jesus is doing the same thing. It was not about dishonoring parents, not following the Law, or the like.
Jesus wants supremacy.

Jesus wants tob e the most important thing. It is not Jesus and… It is just Jesus!
