We are saved Grace alone.
We are saved Grace alone.
Without GODS Spirit we are incapable of receiving anything from God. We need the Holy Spirit to open our minds and hearts, for without we cannot receive.
But a natural man does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually appraised. But he who is spiritual appraises all things, yet he himself is appraised by no one. For who has known the mind of the Lord, that he will instruct Him? But we have the mind of Christ.
The psuchikos man. the Psyche. Mans own mind and intellect and understanding. The unsaved man. the man without the Holy Spirit. He cannot receive the things of the Spirit of God
Even though we cannot know the fulness of the mind of the Lord, so as to instruct Him. He has given us the mind of Christ. a mind of obedience and receptivity to the things of God. we have also received an ability and desire to do what God wants.
Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, so now, not only as in my presence but much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure.
Energeo, it is God who energizes you to do His will.
Do all things without grumbling or disputing,
I have still many things to say to you, but you are not able to bear them or to take them upon you or to grasp them now.
Application belongs to the Holy Spirit. He applies the truth to us and in us, making us capable not only of understanding them but also to apply them
Until the Holy Spirit came, the Disciples were incapable of understanding and applying what Jesus would tell them.
“But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth; for He will not speak on His own initiative, but whatever He hears, He will speak; and He will disclose to you what is to come.
He is the Spirit of Truth. He has come to declare the truth to us. to reveal the truth to our minds and hearts, inside of us and by doing so setting us free.
He will not speak on his own initiative. The Holy does not speak independently from the Father and the Son, but He speaks in perfect unison with them. He is the promise from the Father, sent by the Father and the Son to complete Gods work of sanctification in the believer until glorification.
He is sent to also call Gods elect to himself whoever they may be. with an effectual calling unto salvation. He is sent to equip the church, to empower her to fulfill the great commission. in Evangelism and in discipleship.
He will disclose to you what is to come. The Holy Spirit being God knows the future and Gods future plan for us. He reveals to us in part what we need to know for our encouragement and consolation. giving us hope in our current stressful times.
He will glorify me, for he will take what is mine and declare it to you.
To glorify Christ is his main focus and desire. Mans chief aim is to glorify God and to enjoy Him forever. He takes the things that belong to Jesus and shares them with us.
All that the Father has is mine; therefore I said that he will take what is mine and declare it to you.
Only God can know the things that are Gods. The Holy Spirit being God, takes the things of God and proclaims them to us.
We are powerless and helpless without the Holy Spirit. As the church we need to admit our own impoverishment and inability to do the work of God, if we are to receive empowerment from Gods Holy Spirit.
