Welcome

Opening prayer

Ephesians 2:1-10

Made Alive in Christ

2 As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins,

2 in which you used to live when you followed the ways of this world and of the ruler of the kingdom of the air, the spirit who is now at work in those who are disobedient.

3 All of us also lived among them at one time, gratifying the cravings of our flesh[a] and following its desires and thoughts. Like the rest, we were by nature deserving of wrath.

4 But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy,

5 made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved.

6 And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus,

7 in order that in the coming ages he might show the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus.

8 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—

9 not by works, so that no one can boast.

10 For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

Apostels Creed

‌I believe in God, the Father Almighty,

creator of heaven and earth;

I believe in Jesus Christ his only Son, our Lord

who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,

born of the Virgin Mary,

suffered under Pontius Pilate,

was crucified, died, and was buried;*

He descended to the dead

on the third day he rose again

he ascended into heaven,

is seated at the right hand the Father

and will come again to judge the living and the dead.

‌I believe in the Holy Spirit,

the holy catholic* church,

the communion of saints,

the forgiveness of sins,

the resurrection of the body,

and the life everlasting.

Amen.

Let us pray

Dear Jesus, today we meditate on the gift of faith you have given us. We know that no matter what we face in this world or no matter the trials we go through, you have lived, died, and risen to give us eternal life. Help us to keep our eyes on you and your cross. Keep our faith strong by your Grace.

Amen

God gives his own son to save us.

We hear this all the time right God gave his only son to die on the cross for our sins. But do we understand this? Do we really understand Jesus did not only come so he could spread the word of God. But ultimately so we could be relieved from our sins and not have to pay our price for sin, which was death. I want us to look at the person setting next to you. would you honestly and I mean this is the moment of truth. The wolf is at the door. The two of you of you are going to die for the sins you commited. But the lord has made it so one of you could die for both of your sins. Would you die so the other one could live? Now wait don’t answer this so it sounds good. Would you really die so the other person could live? Let’s look at this question for a moment. As a human we are like well no way I have dreams I have plans I want to go and do to many things yet. some of you are thinking I’m younger and the person next to me is older and has had a good run, let them die so I can live. So before you answer please realize who ever sacrifices their life so the other can live will have guaranteed eternal life in heaven. Does this change your thought pattern? We are now looking at it as what I can gain from this. That’s when we begin to weigh all the options, Which way will I come out on top. You might be thinking I have had a good run here on earth and maybe I will mess up in later years and not get into heaven. But if I do this it’s guaranteed. My question is do you think Jesus did this? Did he weighed the options? I don’t believe he ever thought of any other option. let’s look at

Mathew 26:39

This scripture is when Jesus took peter and the two sons of Zebedee to the garden so Jesus could pray. It reads

Going a little farther, he fell with his face to the ground and prayed, “My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will.”

You see Jesus said to God please If at all possible take this from my cup. Don’t make me do this. Although if not possible, Not my will be done but yours.

You see Jesus did not want to have to die for our sins, but if it was God’s will he said send me. Do we have the kind of faith it takes to do Gods will? Now remember contrary to popular belief God does not promise not to send us more than we can handle, But he does promise not to give us more than we can handle with his help. So remember we need to have the faith we claim to have. Now I’m talking that complete faith to do anything God ask us, and to be reassured he will not ask us to do anything we cant handle with his help. You see when we become christian and give our lives to Jesus Christ we claim him to be our lord and savior. If that is true we should have the complete faith to do anything he ask of us. Jesus did. I am sure Jesus had more that he felt to be done for God here on earth. But in Gods plan this is what had to be done for the future of his kingdom. We have spoken over the last few weeks about what God has given and struggled with for us. What have we done for him. Like the song on the radio says “what have you done for me lately”. Do you realize God has never ask for more from us than he has already given for us. He is never selfish in that way. So when the trials of a christian become tough remember God gave his only son to save us.

Amen
