My own struggle

All throughout the Old Testament and New Testament from the beginning to the end, I see a common theme in the struggle of man and Trusting God.
Why do we struggle with Trusting God.
The Bible says in Proverbs 16:18–19 “Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall. It is better to be of a lowly spirit with the poor than to divide the spoil with the proud.”
The answer is so simple, the scripture says that its our Pride. How often do we abandon God the very will of God because we want to do things our way.
I don’t want to be the person that sits here and condem everybody for wanting to do things their own way or even take matters into their own hands because i often find myself in that exact same situation.
STORY about slow driver -We all have our weak moments. I know for mine its that moment when I might be running a bit late somewhere ( And i hate being late ) and I’m driving a couple of miles over the speed limit give or take and that old grandma with two hands behind the steering wheel going 5 miles an hour under the speed limit………….. But I’m saying to myself, “okay this is fine, once we make it past this light I’ll drive around her, and I’m already a bit annoying cause she’s driving 5 mph under the speed limit, but then i see the light turn yellow……… She then has the audacity to stop at that yellow light and wait for 2 Mississippi’s when she could of made that light and me as well…. At this point i am meeting the qualifications for what the kids call crashing out…… I have steam coming out of my ears I’m doing the fake punching my steering wheel thing, I’m an absolute mess.
JOKE - And just fyi you will also experience this with cars that have the word “Ohio” on the back of their license plates” but we aren’t going into that, thats a different series all by itself.
I was severely lack patience in moments like these and I see a common theme todays age. We are used to getting anything we want at almost a moments notice. fast food, i can google a question in a matter of seconds that scholars and theologians have for centuries have tried to find the answers to their whole lives.
The God of the Bible does not generally roll that way.
There are several different example in the Old and New Testament where great men of God that did great things had to go through trials and grow into the men that they were supposed to be. This was probably over a course of several years of their lives. when then they were in what I like to call the “waiting” period.
When Samuel anointed David to become the next king of Isreal, David had to wait 20 years before becoming King of all of Isreal. Those were 20 very long years of slaying Giants, fighting many military battles, and avoiding being assassinated by Saul.
Joseph, son of Jacob had been sold into slavery by his brothers and he had to go through many rough years of proving his loyalty and faithfulness to God and even blessing God in a prison for an overall 13 years before he met pharoah and interpreted his dream to eventually become 2nd in command in all of Egypt.
We can even take the Israelites journey as a whole and see how God was very very patient with his people and went through a process of many different tests and trials before they would eventually come to the land flowing with milk and honey otherwise known by Abraham as the Promise Land 40 years after the escape from the Egyptians.
I say all this to show that when God anoints somebody to give him Glory in some way, shape, or capacity, it does not come at a cheap price. Its going to cost you many years of learning, prayer, and yes there will be the occasional trial or two to refine your faith.
The Bible says in Proverbs 3 “My son, do not forget my teaching, but let your heart keep my commandments, for length of days and years of life and peace they will add to you. Let not steadfast love and faithfulness forsake (abandon) you; bind them around your neck; write them on the tablet of your heart. So you will find favor and good success in the sight of God and man. Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths. Be not wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord, and turn away from evil.
