RTL: We all have a decision to make.

1. Doing good things is not enough (vv. 16-21)

He followed the commands
it still wasn’t enough
Give up everything to follow Jesus

2. It is all or nothing when following Jesus (vv. 22-24)

He goes away sad - because he doesn’t want to give up his stuff.
He doesn’t want to give up his position in life
His beneficial relationships
Why is it easier?
Does God hate rich people?
No!
But people hate giving up what they love
But Jesus’ command to the rich young man is to give up exactly what he loves the most.
It is not a command for all Christians to sell everything they have and be poor and homeless, but a command to put Christ above everything in your life.

Application:

Have you chosen to follow Jesus?
Do not rely on yourself being good enough
Are you willing to forsake everything for Christ?
