What is to be wise? And What is to be Foolish?
What is to be wise? And What is to be Foolish?
In our walk with Christ, as believers in Christ we can be two things. Wise and Foolish.
English Standard Version Chapter 25
Five of them were foolish, and five were wise.
What were they?
All were virgins. They believed in Christ.
Yet what was the difference?
One group believed and prepared for His arrival while the other group believed and yet lived as if He was not coming soon.
One group took extra oil
Prayed
Read the Word
Consecrated themselves
The other group did not take extra oil
Lived a life of Sin despite ‘Believing in Christ’
Did the opposite to consecration
Lived separate from Christ
Superficial Faith: While all 10 virgins initially appeared ready, the difference became evident when the bridegroom arrived.
Short-Shortsightedness: Just as the foolish virgins brought only enough oil for the immediate moment, some people in the world may focus on fleeting pleasures or temporary achievements, overlooking the significance of long-term spiritual growth.
Procrastination: The parable suggests that the foolish virgins waited until it was too late to act. This can be compared to those who intend to pursue a relationship with God or live a life of faith “someday,” but delay making that commitment.
Unpreparedness: The foolish virgins didn’t bring extra oil for their lamps, reflecting a lack of foresight and preparation. Similarly, in the world, some people may neglect their spiritual lives or fail to nurture their relationship with God, focusing solely on the present without regard for future accountability
