Joshua, 2025
Message #12
Joshua 10:1-15.
Central idea: God continued fighting for Israel despite their poor decisions. (God can work for good despite our failures.)
Question: How does God fight for the Israelites despite their poor decisions?

1. He assured them victory. [v. 8]

He used the same words used previously to provide assurance to Joshua.

Joshua 1:9 “9 Haven’t I commanded you: be strong and courageous? Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.””
Joshua 8:1 “1 The Lord said to Joshua, “Do not be afraid or discouraged. Take all the troops with you and go attack Ai. Look, I have handed over to you the king of Ai, his people, city, and land.”
Joshua 10:8 “8 The Lord said to Joshua, “Do not be afraid of them, for I have handed them over to you. Not one of them will be able to stand against you.””
Joshua 10:25 “25 Joshua said to them, “Do not be afraid or discouraged. Be strong and courageous, for the Lord will do this to all the enemies you fight.””
Joshua 11:6 “6 The Lord said to Joshua, “Do not be afraid of them, for at this time tomorrow I will cause all of them to be killed before Israel. You are to hamstring their horses and burn their chariots.””

2. He displayed supernatural power. [vv. 9-15]

He caused confusion over their enemies. (A typical action of God towards the enemies of His people)

Exodus 14:24 “24 During the morning watch, the Lord looked down at the Egyptian forces from the pillar of fire and cloud, and threw the Egyptian forces into confusion.”

He caused a longer day to grant them victory in battle.
