📖 John 14:27 (AMPC)– "Peace I leave with you; My [own] peace I now give and bequeath to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid. [Stop allowing yourselves to be agitated and disturbed; and do not permit yourselves to be fearful and intimidated and cowardly and unsettled.]"
Introduction: The Gift of Peace from Jesus
Introduction: The Gift of Peace from Jesus
Before Jesus left His disciples, He assured them that He was leaving them with a special gift—His peace. This was not an ordinary peace, but a divine peace that would sustain them through trials, fears, and uncertainties.
Many people search for peace in material wealth, relationships, success, or temporary pleasures, but these things never bring lasting peace. The peace Jesus offers is different—it is a supernatural, unshakable peace that remains even in the middle of life's storms.
In this study, we will explore:
The Source of True Peace: Jesus Himself
The Difference Between Worldly Peace and God's Peace
How to Walk in the Peace of Christ
The Source of True Peace: Jesus Himself
The Source of True Peace: Jesus Himself
🔹 Jesus did not just talk about peace—He is our peace. His peace is rooted in His character and His victory over sin, death, and the enemy.
📖 Isaiah 9:6 – "For to us a Child is born, to us a Son is given... and His name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace."
🔹 As the Prince of Peace, Jesus doesn’t just give peace; He embodies peace. When we draw close to Him, His peace becomes our reality.
Benefit: Peace from Being in Christ’s Presence
✅ We experience peace not because of perfect circumstances but because we are in the presence of Jesus.
✅The more we focus on Him, the less we are troubled by external situations.
📖 Colossians 3:15– "And let the peace (soul harmony which comes) from Christ rule (act as umpire continually) in your hearts."
✝️ Application:
Make time daily to be in God’s presence through prayer and worship. The more time you spend with Jesus, the more you will experience His peace.
The Difference Between Worldly Peace and God’s Peace
The Difference Between Worldly Peace and God’s Peace
🔹 Jesus made it clear: "Not as the world gives do I give to you." This means there is a fundamental difference between the peace the world offers and the peace Jesus gives.
How Does the World Offer Peace?
🚫 Worldly peace is temporary – It depends on good circumstances (money, success, comfort).
🚫Worldly peace is fragile – It can be easily broken by problems or unexpected events.
🚫Worldly peace is false security – It promises peace but leaves people empty and anxious.
📖 1 Thessalonians 5:3– "When people are saying, ‘All is well and secure, and there is peace and safety,’ then in a moment unforeseen destruction will come upon them."
How Does Jesus Give Peace?
✅ Jesus’ peace is permanent– It remains even in hardships.
✅Jesus’ peace is supernatural – It guards our hearts and minds in every situation.
✅Jesus’ peace is a gift – It is not earned but received through faith.
📖 Philippians 4:7– "And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus."
✝️ Application:
Recognize when you are seeking peace in worldly things. Shift your focus to Jesus and trust in His unshakable peace, no matter the circumstances.
How to Walk in the Peace of Christ
How to Walk in the Peace of Christ
🔹 Jesus tells us, "Do not let your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid." This means we have a choice—we can either allow fear to rule us, or we can choose to walk in His peace.
Three Ways to Walk in His Peace:
1. Guard Your Heart Against Fear
📖 Isaiah 26:3 – "You will guard him and keep him in perfect and constant peace whose mind is stayed on You, because he commits himself to You, leans on You, and hopes confidently in You."
✝️ Application:
When fear arises, remind yourself of God’s promises and keep your mind focused on Him.
2. Stay Rooted in God’s Word
📖 Psalm 119:165 – "Great peace have they who love Your law; nothing shall offend them or make them stumble."
✝️ Application:
Fill your heart with Scripture daily. The Word of God strengthens your faith and keeps you anchored in peace.
3. Pray About Everything
📖 Philippians 4:6-7– "Do not be anxious or worried about anything, but in everything by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, make your requests known to God. And the peace of God… will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus."
✝️ Application:
Whenever you feel anxiety rising, immediately pray and give your worries to God.
Conclusion: Living in the Peace of Jesus
Jesus’ peace is a gift, but we must actively receive it and walk in it. When we abide in Him, stay in His Word, and surrender our fears, we experience His supernatural, unshakable peace.
🙌 Key Takeaways:
✅Jesus is our source of peace—the more we abide in Him, the greater our peace.
✅Worldly peace is temporary, but God’s peace is eternal and unshakable.
✅We must choose to reject fear, trust in God’s promises, and pray about everything.
Challenge for the Week:
🔹 Identify one fear or worry that is stealing your peace.
🔹Pray John 14:27 over your life every day this week.
🔹Memorize Philippians 4:6-7 and use it as a declaration against anxiety.
Closing Prayer for Peace
🙏 Heavenly Father, thank You for the gift of peace through Jesus Christ. I receive Your supernatural peace today. I choose to trust in Your promises and not be afraid. Guard my heart and mind with Your peace, and help me walk in confidence, knowing that You are with me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
