Don’t Forget To Remember! (2 Peter 1:10-15)
Remember - the retaining or having in mind an idea which had been present before. Transmission of one fact from one to another.
John 14:26 “But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.”
We have the word of God to show us what Christ has said! Don’t just read God’s word, remember God’s word!
Luke 22:61 “And the Lord turned, and looked upon Peter. And Peter remembered the word of the Lord, how he had said unto him, Before the cock crow, thou shalt deny me thrice.”

To Reinforce (vs.12)
It’s the preacher’s duty to help you to remember the present truth!
Negligent - to be careless or make light of something.
Even though we know some things, it’s good to put us in remembrance of those things to help us reinforce those things!
Philippians 3:1 “Finally, my brethren, rejoice in the Lord. To write the same things to you, to me indeed is not grievous, but for you it is safe.”
Established - firm (strong), fixed (settled), fast (constant)
Preaching, teaching, and study of the word of God helps us to be strong in the faith, settled in the faith, and consistent in the faith.
Matthew 7:24, Luke 6:47,
Bub playing soccer (professional soccer players include some of the same drills that Bub does at his practice). The basics don’t change, but help us to change.
Auto pilot playing music, quoting some scripture, cooking, multiplication tables, alphabet, etc..
Me trying to remember that I have locked the church door, pull brakes on my truck.

stir up - to render active, to excite, to agitate.
Chocolate milk needing to be stirred after sitting a while.
Spaghetti after it gets cold.
There’s no power in still water, but power can be generated by rushing water.
Psalm 20:7 “Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: But we will remember the name of the Lord our God.”
D.L. Moody once had a young preacher boy preach at his church while he was gone for a weekend whose name was Harry Moorehouse. (Didn’t know if he could preach) Revival broke out and the Saturday that Moody came back, Moody wondered what the boy would preach. On Thursday, he preached from John 3:16. On Friday, he preached from John 3:16. On Saturday, He preached from John 3:16. (Moody said, “I never knew up to that time that God loved us so much. This heart of mine began to thaw out, and I could not keep back the tears. It was like news from a far country. I just drank it in.”) For a week straight, Moorehouse preached out of John 3:16. These were the words of Moorehouse that seventh night. “‘My friends, I have been hunting all day for a new text, but I cannot find one as good as the old one; so we will go back to the third chapter of John and the sixteenth verse. My friends for a whole week I have been trying to tell you how much God loves you, but I cannot do it with this poor stammering tongue. If I could borrow Jacob’s ladder, and climb up into heaven, and ask Gabriel, who stands in the presence of the Almighty, if he could tell me how much love the Father has for the world, all he could say would be: “God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
Psalm 119:25 “DALETH. My soul cleaveth unto the dust: Quicken thou me according to thy word.”
Psalm 119:50 “This is my comfort in my affliction: For thy word hath quickened me.”
Psalm 119:93 “I will never forget thy precepts: For with them thou hast quickened me.”
Psalm 119:107 “I am afflicted very much: Quicken me, O Lord, according unto thy word.”
Psalm 119:154 “Plead my cause, and deliver me: Quicken me according to thy word.”
Psalm 119:156 “Great are thy tender mercies, O Lord: Quicken me according to thy judgments.”
Psalm 119:159 “Consider how I love thy precepts: Quicken me, O Lord, according to thy lovingkindness.”

Hebrews 5:12 “For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat.”
We need someone to remind us again and again about the good things of God!
Psalm 45:17 “I will make thy name to be remembered in all generations: Therefore shall the people praise thee for ever and ever.”
Deuteronomy 6:1-2, 20-24, (children and grandchildren)
Psalm 111:1–4 “Praise ye the Lord. I will praise the Lord with my whole heart, In the assembly of the upright, and in the congregation. The works of the Lord are great, Sought out of all them that have pleasure therein. His work is honourable and glorious: And his righteousness endureth for ever. He hath made his wonderful works to be remembered: The Lord is gracious and full of compassion.” (congregation)
It’s of the utmost importance that we help each other to remember the truth of God’s word.
