Today we are here to follow the example set by Jesus' life

We will do so by reading the literal passage of Jesus dedication to the Lord…

Most importantly we are here because of our faith in the birth of Jesus and His death, burial, & resurrection.

Child Dedication is a very Biblical step.

Deuteronomy 6:5–9 NKJV

5 You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength. 6 “And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart. 7 You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up. 8 You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. 9 You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.

Luke chapter 2 tell us what happened the day Jesus was dedicated and defines what we are doing today.As we dedicate our children we are...

1. Presenting them back to God - We are stewards

Luke 2:21–23 NKJV

21 And when eight days were completed for the circumcision of the Child, His name was called Jesus, the name given by the angel before He was conceived in the womb. 22 Now when the days of her purification according to the law of Moses were completed, they brought Him to Jerusalem to present Him to the Lord 23 (as it is written in the law of the Lord, “Every male who opens the womb shall be called holy to the Lord”),

2. Praising God for them - We are saying thank you

Luke 2:28–29 NKJV

28 he took Him up in his arms and blessed God and said: 29 “Lord, now You are letting Your servant depart in peace, According to Your word;

3. Prophesying a Biblical Future - We are speaking to their purpose

Luke 2:30–32 NKJV

30 For my eyes have seen Your salvation 31 Which You have prepared before the face of all peoples, 32 A light to bring revelation to the Gentiles, And the glory of Your people Israel.”

4. Passing on a generational blessing - We are sure of God's blessing

Luke 2:33–34 NKJV

33 And Joseph and His mother marveled at those things which were spoken of Him. 34 Then Simeon blessed them, and said to Mary His mother, “Behold, this Child is destined for the fall and rising of many in Israel, and for a sign which will be spoken against

Luke 2:40 NKJV

40 And the Child grew and became strong in spirit, filled with wisdom; and the grace of God was upon Him.
