Changing of Water into Wine

Introduction

Healing of nations begin with Jesus’ coming. No nation has experienced anything as majestic as what Israel is experiencing in the first century AD. Prophecies that were wide spoken of regarding the Messiah are coming true. These people don’t need rectangular devices to stimulate their senses, Jesus is enough to do that for the crowds.

In John 2, Jesus is invited to a wedding at Cana in Galilee. His immediate family and His new family has joined Him there. The disciples who have just recently started following the carpenter who promised them to make them fisher of men. The one who has said of Himself that He is the Son of David. A Messianic title, a Kingly name, a name well known in Israel. A name that rose as a restorer of Israel instead of Saul.

Just by referring to that name, He is making clear that He is a king. David’s throne was to be established forever according to Yahweh’s promise and here is Yahweh Himself fulfilling the given promise.

He is at a wedding. It is not for kings to get drunk/drink wine.
