I want to borrow the first line of the first verse this morning. Today I want to talk from the subject “I’ve Got Sunshine On A Cloudy Day”
The ancient Greek philosopher Heraclitus once said, **"The only constant in life is change."** He believed that life is a river, ever-flowing, constantly moving, and filled with both calm waters and turbulent rapids. This philosophy reminds us that no matter how dark or cloudy our days may seem, change is inevitable, and brighter days will come. This aligns deeply with scripture, particularly Psalm 30:5: **"Weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning
In 2023, the World Health Organization reported that over **700,000 people died by suicide worldwide**, with depression being a leading cause. These numbers reflect a significant global crisis, one that affects not only individuals but families, communities, and nations. It is a testament to the depth of human suffering that so many feel trapped in the darkness of their cloudy days, unable to see the sunshine that lies beyond.
The great 20th-century philosopher Viktor Frankl, a Holocaust survivor, wrote about finding meaning in suffering. In his book *Man's Search for Meaning*, Frankl argued that even in the most horrific circumstances, human beings have the capacity to choose their attitude and find purpose. He famously said, **"When we are no longer able to change a situation, we are challenged to change ourselves."**
You have to change how you look at stuff. Stop seeing the glass half empty, and see it half full.
Consider the life of Job, a man who lost everything: his family, his wealth, and his health. His cloudy days were filled with unimaginable suffering. Yet, through his despair, Job declared, **"Though He slay me, yet will I hope in Him" (Job 13:15).** Job understood that even in the darkest night, God's light would eventually break through.
Consider Jesus Himself endured the ultimate suffering on the cross, it happened on what we call “Black Friday” and yet He found purpose in His pain: the salvation of humanity. The cross was His "cloudy day," but the resurrection was His sunshine. For us, the resurrection is the ultimate proof that joy does indeed come in the morning.
So how do we find sunshine when the clouds of depression, grief, or despair seem overwhelming? Here are two practical steps:
1. **Hold on to God's Promises and speak the word over your mind and your situation
Meditate on scriptures like Psalm 30:5,
Isaiah 41:10
Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.
John 16:33 (“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble.But take heart! I have overcome the world.”
These verses remind us that God's light is always present, even when we cannot see it.
2 Corinthians 4:7-10
7 But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.
8 We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair;
9 Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed;
10 Always bearing about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our body.
Philippians 4:7
And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
2. Praise The Son in every situation
Remember, just because you cannot see the sun does not mean it is not there. The clouds are temporary, but the sun is constant. In the same way, God's love and promises are always present, even when we feel distant from Him.
Close the sun never go down
1. Scientific Perspective: Close Here
From a scientific standpoint, the sun does not actually "go down." It remains at the center of our solar system, and what we perceive as the sun setting is a result of the Earth's rotation. As the Earth spins on its axis, different parts of the planet move into and out of the sunlight, creating the cycle of day and night. Thus, when we say the sun sets, it is merely our perspective changing due to the Earth's movement
Praise Him in advance because the Son never goes down.
Be not dismayed whate’er betide, God will take care of you!
Beneath His wings of love abide, God will take care of you!
Weeping may endure for a night but joy comes in the morning.
