Last week we looked at Strengthening the Inner Man and we saw that it is important for us to realize that our old man has been crucified, we are a new creation because of Jesus, we are part of God’s Master plan, and we shine our light so that when we do God’s work He is glorified! Now that’s great news but in order for us to live it, something’s gotta change. And that something is the way we think. Our thoughts, or should I say the way we process situations has a lot to do with our past experiences or the way we were raised or trained in the past regardless if whether that’s what the word says or not. Many times our initial reaction to something is based on what’s in our hearts and a lot of times those reactions are not Word based. So we must work hard on getting God’s word in so we can renew our minds.
Psalm 119:130 (AMP)

The entrance and unfolding of Your words give light; their unfolding gives understanding (discernment and comprehension) to the simple.

For Us To Understand We Need God’s Word!

When we don’t take time to allow God’s word to become part of us, we lack understanding. It’s hard to comprehend a lot of tings that are going on around us in the natural. How can we comprehend and understand the things of God without letting His word enter our minds first and then our spirit. So many times we think we know what God is saying but are we letting His word give us understanding or are we understanding the word with our limited understanding and therefore still in the dark. How do we do this?
Psalm 119:9–11 (NKJV)
How can a young man cleanse his way? By taking heed according to Your word.
With my whole heart I have sought You; Oh, let me not wander from Your commandments!
Your word I have hidden in my heart, That I might not sin against You.

Hide God’s Word in Our Heart!

We have to seek after god with all of our heart. When we do so His word what we think about and meditate on everyday. It goes past our head knowledge and into our hearts. That is what happened to us in all the ways different families do things. We don’t even think about because that is how we always did it. It’s in our heart. We need to be that way about the things of God. It is just who we are with God’s word in our heart that guards us against doing the wrong things. God’s Word becomes part of our inner man and it strengthens us!
Colossians 3:16 (NKJV)
Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.

We Need God’s Word to Dwell in Us!

When God’s word dwells in us richly, when it dominates our thinking, then we can be an encouragement to everyone around us. We will bring life to those around us and help others be full of the word of God. Our lives will be full of God’s love and joy! Our inner man will be strengthened.
2 Timothy 3:16–17 (MSG)
Every part of Scripture is God-breathed and useful one way or another—showing us truth, exposing our rebellion, correcting our mistakes, training us to live God’s way.
Through the Word we are put together and shaped up for the tasks God has for us.

Our Inner Man is Strengthened Because We Fine Tuned with His Word!

Finally, God’s word shows us the truth, corrects us, exposes rebellion, and trains us to live God’s way not ours. Our inner man is strengthened by the constant correction and realignment of our lives in accordance with God’s Word! Let’s get His word in our spirit man so we can complete the assignments He’s given us with a strong inner man serving God!
