Hey everyone, how are you doing today? It’s really good to see you all.
This past week, we went through quite the experience with that icy rainstorm—power lines were down, lights were out, heaters shut off, no internet, and even phone lines were unstable. For some people, this went on until Thursday.
And what struck me most was that, even though many of us were sitting in homes fully equipped with TVs, laptops, and fridges stocked with food—without power, none of it mattered. It was all there, but we couldn’t access the benefit of it.
That got me thinking about the goal of our sermon series this month.
You see, just like those powerless homes, there are many people—even believers—who know about God. They know the name of Jesus. They can quote Scriptures, they may even argue passionately about the historicity of the Bible. But they haven’t had revelation knowledge. Their eyes haven’t been opened to truly see Him.
They’re like the Pharisees Jesus spoke to—the ones who searched the Scriptures, thinking they would find eternal life in them, yet missed the very One those Scriptures pointed to.
It’s like someone who has memorized the layout of the White House. They can tell you where every room is, what each space is for, the architecture, the design. But they’ve never actually been there. They’ve never stepped foot inside.
Now imagine that person finally walks into the White House—it would be like seeing everything for the first time. All the facts they had read about suddenly become real, tangible, and personal.
That’s what it’s like when someone moves from simply knowing about Jesus to truly knowing Him. We may not be able to physically touch Him now, but we can walk with Him. We can know Him intimately. And that kind of relationship—one that’s alive and real—comes only through revelation knowledge.
So my prayer this month is simple: that if there’s even one person here who has only heard about Jesus, read about Him, or known Him through secondhand experiences, that this would be the month you truly meet Him.
(Can I hear a louder amen?)
Yes, this month, may you come to know Him for real. May what once felt like stories become your living reality. May your heart be filled with deep conviction about the grace of God, and may you walk confidently in that grace.
And for those who already know Him, I pray your convictions grow stronger, your faith goes deeper, and your relationship with God is refreshed. That the light of the glory of God would shine even brighter in your heart through Jesus Christ, our Lord.
In Jesus’ name, amen.

Now, let’s dive in.
The theme for this month is “Colours of Grace”—and what that means is we’re exploring the grace of God from different angles, different perspectives, and different expressions.
And to lay a strong foundation for the rest of this series, I want to share three key objectives for today’s sermon.
Oh—and if this is your first time worshipping with us, welcome! You picked the best day to join us. It’s a brand new series, and you’re in for a powerful, eye-opening service.
So go ahead and write these three things down—they’ll help you follow along and remember what today is all about:
First, to show that the only way to truly understand the grace of God is through revelation knowledge—and that comes from the study of the Word of God.
Second, to show that when you study the Word properly, it will always point you to Jesus.
And third, to show that, based on those two truths, grace is found only in the person of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Saviour.
Let’s get into it.
Like I said earlier, many people think the Christian faith is experience-based. But the Bible shows otherwise. I’ll show you using three examples:
Cornelius and his vision of an Angel
Paul on the way to Damascus
The disciples on the road to Emmaus
Today is going to be a Bible study so be ready to go back and forth in your Bibles/ Bible App.
Cornelius and his vision of an Angel
Cornelius and his vision of an Angel
About the ninth hour of the day he saw clearly in a vision an angel of God coming in and saying to him, “Cornelius!”
And when he observed him, he was afraid, and said, “What is it, lord?”
So he said to him, “Your prayers and your alms have come up for a memorial before God. Now send men to Joppa, and send for Simon whose surname is Peter. He is lodging with Simon, a tanner, whose house is by the sea. He will tell you what you must do.”
Peter recounting Cornelius’ vision to those in Jerusalem said in
And he told us how he had seen an angel standing in his house, who said to him, ‘Send men to Joppa, and call for Simon whose surname is Peter, who will tell you words by which you and all your household will be saved.’
Paul on the way to Damascus
Paul on the way to Damascus
As he journeyed he came near Damascus, and suddenly a light shone around him from heaven. Then he fell to the ground, and heard a voice saying to him, “Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting Me?”
And he said, “Who are You, Lord?”
Then the Lord said, “I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting. It is hard for you to kick against the goads.”
So he, trembling and astonished, said, “Lord, what do You want me to do?”
Then the Lord said to him, “Arise and go into the city, and you will be told what you must do.”
Isn’t this amazing? Jesus appeared to Saul. Jesus Himself, yet what did He say? You will be told what to do. This led Him to go to Ananias who prayed for him and then he spent time with the disciples there.
Seeing Jesus is a great spiritual experience but Jesus didn’t say you have seen me, you are saved. No! He instructed him to go to the believers in the city.
The same thing happened with the disciples on the way to Emmaus
The same thing happened with the disciples on the way to Emmaus
Then He said to them, “O foolish ones, and slow of heart to believe in all that the prophets have spoken! Ought not the Christ to have suffered these things and to enter into His glory?” And beginning at Moses and all the Prophets, He expounded to them in all the Scriptures the things concerning Himself.
Then they drew near to the village where they were going, and He indicated that He would have gone farther. But they constrained Him, saying, “Abide with us, for it is toward evening, and the day is far spent.” And He went in to stay with them.
Now it came to pass, as He sat at the table with them, that He took bread, blessed and broke it, and gave it to them. Then their eyes were opened and they knew Him; and He vanished from their sight.
And they said to one another, “Did not our heart burn within us while He talked with us on the road, and while He opened the Scriptures to us?”
He didn’t say slow of heart to believe what you have heard?
Jesus could have just shown them the scars in His hands like He did for Thomas but He showed the scriptures
You don’t truly know Jesus until you know Him in the Word! The modus operandi of the Christian faith is that our faith should be founded on Revelation first before experience.
