We left off where David had been sent down check on his brothers and bring back a report from the battle between the Israelites and the Philistines and David heres about this Giant Philistine Goliath
Some Israelites told David about the champion and they told him about the Kings re ward and David is concerned about this man that defys the army of the living God and they told Saul what David said and saul sends for David.
READ verse 32-58
Verse 33, Saul immediately doubts and judges David by the things he was saying by him only being a youth, if we remember Samuel going to find the next King what does God say to Samuel? He says “For the Lord sees not as man sees: man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.
Verse 34-37, David follows his statement with reciepts of the battles God has protected him from and given him victory over. David trusted the power of God on his life, We also begin to see the process and plan of God on Davids life. He had prepared David for this moment for his entire life. These battles would soon set him up for a great battle against a giant. God still works on his people in this way that the things we go through , the hardships we sometimes face , the waiting periods we endure sometimes are teaching us and readying us for the future. We dont always understand the why for the things God allows to happen in our life but man to trust God and trust the process is key.
Verse 38, arguably one of my favorite parts of this story. Scripture describes Saul to be a large man and David was still a young boy, but the point I love is David wasnt going to try and put on someone else’s armor that was never meant for him to wear. He wasnt gonna try and be Saul because God never called him to that armor. David was clothed in a different armor and it was the armor of the living God. How often do we attempt to put on someone else’s armor to be someone God never called us to be ? What would have happened had David gone out to fight Goliath with armor he had no confidence in and that was never meant for him.
Verse 41, Yet agin another example of man looking at the outward appearance
