Hey everyone!
I’m filling in for Miss Kaite today, I heard y’all have been talking about Grace for the past couple weeks
So what is Grace?
Grace is receiving something that we don’t deserve
If I’m playing with my brother in my mom’s house
And we end up breaking a picture
My mom could punish me and make me pay for it
Or she could give me grace and forgive me and maybe even make me dinner
Grace is receiving something we don’t deserve
And tonight we’re talking about “Grace to preserve”
Does anyone know what it means to preserve?
Have y’all ever had food go bad get stinky or get moldy???
Well, to preserve is to keep that food from going bad or getting moldy
If I put a steak in the freezer, it doesn’t get bad near nearly as fast compared to if i left it in a hot car all week.
So we’re looking at Grace to preserve.
We’re gonna read our passage
GRACE TO PERSEVERE:
Deuteronomy 31:6 ESV
6 Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the Lord your God who goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you.”
In this passage, God is talking to Joshua
Joshua is scared and he has fear of what God has called him to do
But God says, do not fear… He says, be strong and courageous
Because God will never leave you nor forsake you
You know, sometimes in life people get mad people get upset and then they leave us
But God doesn’t work like that if we have a relationship with God, he will never leave us
Ephesians 2:4–5 ESV
4 But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, 5 even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved—
So if we want to have a relationship with Jesus, what do we have to do???
Repent and believe
You have to ask God for forgiveness of sin ask him to help us live for him and love him
And we have to believe that Jesus died on the cross to pay the penalty for our sin and Rose again on the third day To give us new life.
Romans 10:9 ESV
9 because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
If you don’t have a relationship with Jesus, I would love to talk with you about that tonight
And if you do, I’m very happy to hear that
Because having a relationship with Jesus is the best thing for us…
and the really cool thing about the preserving Grace of God
Is that he doesn’t give me what I deserve but gives me what I don’t deserve
That when I messed up when I fail, and All of us in this room have failed
God still loves me because he calls me his son
Because he has adopted me
So tonight, But I want you to take away is this?
God loves you, and if you have a relationship with him, he will never leave you nor forsake you
No matter what happens he loves you and will never leave you as long as you have a relationship with him
And because of that we don’t have to be afraid
Because of that love because of him, never leaving us
We can be strong and courageous
