Luke 23:47-48

Rightly so we focus on the physical suffering of Jesus during the last hours of His life.
We cannot overlook the emotional suffering He experienced.
After supper He withdrew to pray, and after time in prayer He admonished the disciples once again to wake up. As He was speaking a mob came - described in Luke 22:52
Luke 22:52 HCSB
Then Jesus said to the chief priests, temple police, and the elders who had come for Him, “Have you come out with swords and clubs as if I were a criminal?
Judas Iscariot (there were two men named Judas among Jesus’ twelve followers) had previously made arrangements with the chief priests to hand Jesus over to them. They arranged to meet under cover of darkness because the religious authorities were afraid of popular opinion - the crowds had just a few days previously praised Jesus as coming as Blessed of the Lord.
READ Luke 22:54-60

Jesus had warned Peter that a time of testing lay ahead of him
Luke 22:31–32 HCSB
“Simon, Simon, look out! Satan has asked to sift you like wheat. But I have prayed for you that your faith may not fail. And you, when you have turned back, strengthen your brothers.”
Just as Jesus looked at Peter, perhaps having heard Peter’s heated denial Luke tells us
Luke 22:61–62 HCSB
Then the Lord turned and looked at Peter. So Peter remembered the word of the Lord, how He had said to him, “Before the rooster crows today, you will deny Me three times.” And he went outside and wept bitterly.
