As Jesus dies on a hill well outside Jerusalem, inside the Temple the veil hiding the Holy of Holies is torn from the top down, allowing all to see the place where God meets with His people!
Never before in Jewish history has the veil been down. Only the high priest was allowed past the veil and then only after appropriate sacrifice for himself and for the people of Israel.
He could not linger behind the veil. He would confess his sin and the sin of His people and return to the Holy Place.
After Jesus’ death, His body is carried to a tomb belonging to the family of Joseph of Arimathea.
