INTRODUCTION

In the introduction section of this chapter, Henderson quotes Smith Wigglesworth who reportedly said, “If the Spirit doesn’t move me, I move the Spirit.” What does he mean by “I move the Spirit?” How does this idea relate to 2 Timothy 1:6?
He is referring to stirring up the gift of God within us. In other words, sometimes we can let the gifts of God become stagnant in our lives. When this happens, we need to stir them up. How do we stir them up? (1) By rededicating our lives to God, (2) By recommitting to prayer, worship, and God’s Word, (3) By seeking for more of God.

TONGUES AS A SIGN

Henderson quotes Mark 16:17-18 and then writes, “The signs listed here are indications to others that we belong to Jesus and are authorized to represent Him.”

MARKED BY GOD

What are the three signs God gave Moses to prove he had a genuine encounter with God?
(1) Staff turn into a serpent. The staff represented authority. The staff becoming a snake represented the danger of abusing authority or the anointing of God.
(2) Healing of leprosy. This represented God’s power to heal physically and spiritually.
3) Water turned to blood. This represented the power of God over the power of the Egyptian gods. Could also represent the blood of Christ.

WONDERS THAT SPEAK

In this section, Henderson references Jesus’ miracle at the wedding in Cana of Galilee in John 2:1-11. List the three prophetic “omens” that he discusses from this passage and how they relate to Christ.
(1) It happened on the third day. The third day is prophetic of Jesus’ resurrection.
(2) It happened at a wedding. This is prophetic of Jesus’ relationship with His church.
(3) It speaks of saving the best for last. The best is yet to come.

EXPLOSIVE MIRACLES

In Hebrews 2:4, the author mentions “various miracles” in addition to signs and wonders and gifts of the Holy Spirit. According to Henderson, what does the word “miracles” mean in Greek? How is this a good description of how God uses miracles to reach people for the Kingdom of God?

GIFTS MOVE THROUGH OUR SOUL

Henderson writes, “For the gifting of the Spirit to be revealed and manifested through us, it must move through our soul, which consists of our mind, will and emotions.”

THE NEW IN NEW TONGUES

Henderson writes, “The word new is the Greek word kainos. It is a reference to something being fresh.
Henderson states, “Different tongues can have different impacts in the spirit realm.” Then after quoting 1 Corinthians 14:9-10, he continues, “Every tone or revelation/disclosure has significance, so the tone in a gift of tongues can be releasing new words of revelation and shifting things in that place.” What do you think he means by this? When we operate in the gift of tongues, do you think we fully understand the significance of what is happening in the spiritual realm?
