Introduction: Palm Sunday, Jesus King
Connection to Ezra
Prophecy of Zechariah about JOshua the High Priest
And say to him, ‘Thus says the Lord of hosts, “Behold, the man whose name is the Branch: for he shall branch out from his place, and he shall build the temple of the Lord. It is he who shall build the temple of the Lord and shall bear royal honor, and shall sit and rule on his throne. And there shall be a priest on his throne, and the counsel of peace shall be between them both.” ’
Joshua - Jeshua, Jehovah is Salvation.
The Branch
Prophesied by Isaiah
There shall come forth a shoot from the stump of Jesse, and a branch from his roots shall bear fruit.
Prophesied by Jeremiah
In those days and at that time I will cause a righteous Branch to spring up for David, and he shall execute justice and righteousness in the land.
Fulfilled in Jesus
The Branch - the Righteous seed, the Royal throne, the Ruler, the Priest.
Leading us, Saving us, Bringing us Home.
Read John 12:12-16.
Notice what it says about the Disciples - they didn’t realize what it meant, but once he was Glorified. Once he was raised from the dead, ascended to His heavenly place, they understood.
That’s really what the rest of the New Testament is about - Jesus’ early followers, the Apostles, telling us about the reign of their King, of our King.
How He is king and Lord now,
How he will be king and Lord forever
How that changes our lives now
How that changes our eternity
In Him.
Our position in Christ and our union with King Jesus are cause for praise, cause for wonder, and cause for worship.

Let the redeemed of the Lord say so, whom he has redeemed from trouble
Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places, even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before him.
In love he predestined us for adoption to himself as sons through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of his will, to the praise of his glorious grace, with which he has blessed us in the Beloved. In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace,
in Christ - our position.
Spiritual, but actual
blessed us with every spiritual blessing
chose us
set us apart and given us a new direction
adopted - sons and daughters
redeemed us - bought back
forgiven us
What do we speak of but that which we adore?
I will bless the Lord at all times; his praise shall continually be in my mouth.

“Meditate Day and Night”
Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers; but his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night.
Psalm 63.

Does Having Jesus as your King change the way you think?
Kingdom-thoughts, new orientation.
Does it change what you think about?
good things, beautiful things, righteous things
Does it change how you respond, even in your thinking?
Anxiety and worry
Anger and fear
selfishness
Are they met in Him? They are met in him - are we living in the transformation and renewal of our mind?
Is our defense against temptation to these things, “That’s my King.”
When Satan Tempts me To Despair, and tells me of the guilt within...

“A Living Sacrifice”
even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before him.
Now to him who is able to keep you from stumbling and to present you blameless before the presence of his glory with great joy, to the only God, our Savior, through Jesus Christ our Lord, be glory, majesty, dominion, and authority, before all time and now and forever. Amen.
It is his majestic and glorious dominion and authority that assures us that we will make it, and be presented blameless on that final day.
How does he do that? Remember that key phrase, “in Him.”
Covered in Him - God sees his righteousness
Our union with Christ is our guarantee that we make it. Apart from that, no guarantees. In fact, the guarantee is that we don’t make it.
Our union with Him is also our place in the continuum of transforming Grace. He has chosen and predestined us to be made like Him, conformed to His Image.
It is his majestic and glorious authority and dominion that causes us to seek to bow before him, body soul and spirit, until that final day.
His Dominion and Authority changes our “can” and changes our “want to.”
We are no longer under the dominion of sin
We have a desire to do His will
I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship.
