Our world is fully of bustle and hustle.
Many things vie for our attention.
Our world is filled with conflict.
Personal and within communities.
Our world is filled with expectations.
Spoken and unspoken.
So did the world of Jesus!
This is good news. We are not that much different than them.
Israel was waiting and expecting their Messiah.
It was this time of year especially the hope would rise again.
Palm branches signified a hope for the nation to return.
Years earlier there was a successful revolt by Juda Maccabea and the nation was hoping for another one.
The humility of Jesus was on display.
Jesus comes not on a horse, that is to come, but on a donkey that no one ever rode before. The mother had to be with him.
The crowds wanted a saving of their own making.
This is common for us.
Jesus is the Savior they needed.
Jesus woudl not meet their expectations.
The hoped for political and military leader.
The goal was to kick out the Romans.
Jesus provides reconciliation with God.
This is our true need which will have political and military implications.
Hope is Jesus never disappoints.
In the sense when we let Jesus be Jesus and trust who He really is we will never be disappointed.
