CELEBRATE:
Pop Up Easter Egg Hunt
Easter 🐣 is coming
Jesus takes the hopeless, nurture’s hope, instills faith, and creates Life— Life Evermore!
Last couple of weeks:
We have talked about two people who knelt before Jesus:
The demon possessed man found in the cemetery (Mark 5.6; Mark 5:18)
A leader of the synagogue whose daughter was sick sick sick (Mark 5:22)
Plus, another — a woman, who got low enough to touch the hem of his garment. (Mark 5:28)
Jesus is notorious for plowing through the enemy’s stronghold and setting His children free.
Notorious
Latin root means "to come to know”
Something that is, “well-known, and not in a good way or in a not so reputable way."
So, generally something known and talked about in a wide sense.
Jesus was doing good things in view of the people, right… but these things were ruffling up the feathers of the the religious leaders— thus NOTORIOUS!
HAS JESUS PLOWED THROUGH THE ENEMY FOR YOU?
Remember this quote from last week...
“Your MINISTRY is found where you have been BROKEN. Your TESTIMONY is found where you have been RESTORED.” Meredith Houston Carr, https://proverbs31.org/read/devotions/full-post/2023/03/24/where-ministry-begins
“Your LIFE’S FLOW is found where you have been BROKEN. Your STORY BEGINS where you have been RESTORED or MADE RIGHT.”
TRANSITION
A popular phrase I here often is “I’m tired”
at the POP UP egg hunt I heard is several times and then I laughed out loud when a 12 y/o laid down in chair and said, “I’m tired”
Sometimes we need to actually REST!
JESUS ORDAINED THIS...
If it is good for Him it must be good for his disciples and good for us!
DINNER with 5000
30 The apostles returned to Jesus from their ministry tour and told him all they had done and taught. 31 Then Jesus said, “Let’s go off by ourselves to a quiet place and rest awhile.” He said this because there were so many people coming and going that Jesus and his apostles didn’t even have time to eat.
32 So they left by boat for a quiet place, where they could be alone. 33 But many people recognized them and saw them leaving, and people from many towns ran ahead along the shore and got there ahead of them. 34 Jesus saw the huge crowd as he stepped from the boat, and he had compassion on them because they were like sheep without a shepherd. So he began teaching them many things.
35 Late in the afternoon his disciples came to him and said, “This is a remote place, and it’s already getting late. 36 Send the crowds away so they can go to the nearby farms and villages and buy something to eat.”
37 But Jesus said, “You feed them.”
“With what?” they asked. “We’d have to work for months to earn enough money to buy food for all these people!”
38 “How much bread do you have?” he asked. “Go and find out.”
They came back and reported, “We have five loaves of bread and two fish.”
39 Then Jesus told the disciples to have the people sit down in groups on the green grass. 40 So they sat down in groups of fifty or a hundred.
41 Jesus took the five loaves and two fish, looked up toward heaven, and blessed them. Then, breaking the loaves into pieces, he kept giving the bread to the disciples so they could distribute it to the people. He also divided the fish for everyone to share. 42 They all ate as much as they wanted, 43 and afterward, the disciples picked up twelve baskets of leftover bread and fish. 44 A total of 5,000 men and their families were fed.
34 “Sir,” they said, “give us that bread every day.”
35 Jesus replied, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never be hungry again. Whoever believes in me will never be thirsty. 36 But you haven’t believed in me even though you have seen me.
28 They replied, “We want to perform God’s works, too. What should we do?”
29 Jesus told them, “This is the only work God wants from you: Believe in the one he has sent.”
47 “I tell you the truth, anyone who believes has eternal life. 48 Yes, I am the bread of life!
66 At this point many of his disciples turned away and deserted him. 67 Then Jesus turned to the Twelve and asked, “Are you also going to leave?”
68 Simon Peter replied, “Lord, to whom would we go? You have the words that give eternal life. 69 We believe, and we know you are the Holy One of God.”
My Response
To Believe in Jesus
To Follow Jesus as a Disciple
To Eat the Bread of Life
THIS IS ALL SUMMED UP IN ONE ACTION…
Knelling at His Feet!
We see this in Colossians
19 For God in all his fullness
was pleased to live in Christ,
20 and through him God reconciled
everything to himself.
He made peace with everything in heaven and on earth
by means of Christ’s blood on the cross.
21 This includes you who were once far away from God. You were his enemies, separated from him by your evil thoughts and actions. 22 Yet now he has reconciled you to himself through the death of Christ in his physical body. As a result, he has brought you into his own presence, and you are holy and blameless as you stand before him without a single fault.
23 But you must continue to believe this truth and stand firmly in it. Don’t drift away from the assurance you received when you heard the Good News. The Good News has been preached all over the world, and I, Paul, have been appointed as God’s servant to proclaim it.
