Anybody watch the final four last night between Houston and Duke? Ranger tied and Langfod hits a 2 run homerun
I believe all of us have a competitive edge in us. Whether it is sports playing, sports watching, board games, bingo, cooking the best pies. We all have that edge. You can research stats and games to remember the greatest games and plays of history. You can also find the greatest comebacks to ever happen. Several of them that I can remember did not happen in favor of the team I wanted to win which ended in a let down. Tom Bradys Patriots coming back to beat the Falcons from 28-3. Pacers Reggie Miller 8 point deficit come back in 11 seconds.
The Mavericks getting beat in 06 but winning the finals in 11
The nightmare of the Rangers getting beat in 2011 in the World Series which was a great comeback for the Cardinals. Yet we finally win ours in 2023
We could talk nascar races and others which would just be some of my favorite things but of course as we sit in a church service as Easter nears on the calendar and in our hearts we have to think about the greatest comeback to ever happen that nothing compares to and nothing ever will.
We will look at a few things in Old Testament this week because without understanding the importance of this then we wouldn’t understand how great of a comeback this really is.
Exodus 12 - is where you find the passover, the blood on the doorpost. In Christianity, the Passover lamb is seein as a foreshadowing of Jesus Christ, who is referred to as the Lamb of God
Christians believe that Jesus sacrifice atoned for the sins of humanity, much like the Passover lambs blood protected the Israelites.
How important is blood of a lamb/sheep
It is actually used to produce antivenom, it isn’t just automatically an anti venom but its helpful in the process of. Sheep along with horses are the greatest producer of antivenom
Our blood is vital for life because it transports oxygen and nutrients to cells, removes waste products, fights infections, and regulates body temperature, all crucial for maintaining bodily functions and survival. Without blood we can survive and so we also go give blood because we can produce more and help give to others than need blood to continue to survive… that’s pretty amazing as well
There is power in the blood
Let’s see what Vegas predicted in 786bc- well not exactly Vegas but because of prophecy we do know we can guaranty that the greatest comeback of all time will happen and through the belly of a fish?
Jonah in the belly of the fish for 3 days
Jonah 1:15–17 ESV
15 So they picked up Jonah and hurled him into the sea, and the sea ceased from its raging. 16 Then the men feared the Lord exceedingly, and they offered a sacrifice to the Lord and made vows. 17 And the Lord appointed a great fish to swallow up Jonah. And Jonah was in the belly of the fish three days and three nights.
Jonah 2 ESV
1 Then Jonah prayed to the Lord his God from the belly of the fish, 2 saying, “I called out to the Lord, out of my distress, and he answered me; out of the belly of Sheol I cried, and you heard my voice. 3 For you cast me into the deep, into the heart of the seas, and the flood surrounded me; all your waves and your billows passed over me. 4 Then I said, ‘I am driven away from your sight; yet I shall again look upon your holy temple.’ 5 The waters closed in over me to take my life; the deep surrounded me; weeds were wrapped about my head 6 at the roots of the mountains. I went down to the land whose bars closed upon me forever; yet you brought up my life from the pit, O Lord my God. 7 When my life was fainting away, I remembered the Lord, and my prayer came to you, into your holy temple. 8 Those who pay regard to vain idols forsake their hope of steadfast love. 9 But I with the voice of thanksgiving will sacrifice to you; what I have vowed I will pay. Salvation belongs to the Lord!” 10 And the Lord spoke to the fish, and it vomited Jonah out upon the dry land.
Because of the blood of Christ and because He lives even though we might run out of blood here on this earth we shall not die!!
Hosea 6:2 ESV
2 After two days he will revive us; on the third day he will raise us up, that we may live before him.
Hosea was a prophet meaning Salvation and this wasn’t in context to Christ being raised but actually to human healing. So therefore that we may live before the one that will be raised up!!!!!
