Matt 6. Still on the Mount, correcting the teachings of the Tanakh=Hebrew Scriptures, TNK=Torah, Pentateuch(“five books”GELND), Nevi’im(Prophets), and Ketuvim(the Writings).

In Mat 5, Jesus was telling us who was blessed, and He began to tell us how we should act, not as others have taught, or translated the teaching. Here, He demands us to be perfect, as our Father in Heaven is perfect. He repeatedly says :”you heard it has been said, but I say unto you”, over and over. He continues in that Spirit here in 6 with therefore’s, and verily, verily, or truly truly in chapter 6, making sure we understand the difference between GOD and man. GOD is not like man, only in image, HE IS PERFECT, LOVING, HOLY & JUST! (Anthropomorphism)

Deuteronomy 32:4 “4 He is the Rock, his work is perfect: For all his ways are judgment: A God of truth and without iniquity, Just and right is he.”

He is repetitious in our Heavenly Father’s characteristics and how He expects His children to act. (Confidence, Strength, Silence)

Isaiah 30:15 “15 For thus saith the Lord God, the Holy One of Israel; In returning and rest shall ye be saved; In quietness and in confidence shall be your strength: And ye would not.”

Psalm 46:10 “10 Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.”

Although He is corrective, reproofing, or rebuking their beliefs/teachings, He is also reaffirming with GODS’ rewards, the gifts and wonders for those chosen with eyes to see and ears to hear His voice and message.

John 10:27–28 “27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: 28 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.”

These are not earthly things we should seek!! Look not for the praise of men or what men seek!

(recognition, praise, glory, exotic food & clothing, material wealth...etc)

The Sermon is all about His Children being like Him. The instructions and corrections of a Father, over and over...we’re all sinners, therefore be humble, be vigilant, be holy(set apart) and ALWAYS A.S.K.!

But, seek ye first the Kingdom, and the rest shall be added unto you!
