to worship is to bow down towards God. To prostrate oneself before God.
“kiss towards somebody”
This is not just a romantic gesture to your lover but it is a God kiss. Its really kissing the feet to the One who has power and authority over you.
“During an earthquake in Israel that occurred a few years back, the inhabitants of a small village were generally very much alarmed, but they were at the same time surprised at the calmness and apparent joy of an old lady whom they all knew. At length one of them, addressing the old lady, said: “Mother, are you not afraid”.“No,” said the mother; “I rejoice to know that I have a God that can shake the world.”
What are you trusting in. Is it the perfect environment is it
Complete reliance upon God was the basic covenant agreement for the people of Judah. Reliance on God was basic for there flourishing as a people. This was Judaism 101 complete reliance on him.
But Judah had a different mode and way of living which was lets rely on Babylon thats rely on Egypt.
When Judah put there trust in Babylon they became like Babylon. When we put our trust in the world we become like the world. When we put our trust in the government we become like government. And its difficult when truth comes for one to be objective because all my truth was in government.
Like when truth comes from the left side of the aisle I can’t trust it because I’m republican or from the right side I can’t trust it because I’m democrat.
Do not put your trust in princes, Nor in a son of man, in whom there is no help.
We depend far to much on great men here on earth and neglect the great One in heaven.
This is a habit that we have which leads to disappointment.
Princes are only men with needs just like everyone else. So why depend on them. Why should we look to Babylon for aid.
They are in greater danger, are burdened with greater cares, and are more likely to be misled than other men; therefore, it is foolishness to select them for our confidence.
We live in such a way where princes can trust us not us trust them.
Adam fell who was in a perfect environment he was innocent no sin nature but he fell. So why would I trust in Adams sons who are fallible.
Thus says the Lord: “Cursed is the man who trusts in man And makes flesh his strength, Whose heart departs from the Lord.
For he shall be like a shrub in the desert, And shall not see when good comes, But shall inhabit the parched places in the wilderness, In a salt land which is not inhabited.
Those who depend on the strength of the flesh. The strength of mans ability to satisfy.
These are people who don’t believe on divine help.
He who trusts in his own heart is a fool, But whoever walks wisely will be delivered.
They remain a fool and there own foolishness overtakes them.
This kind of person is compared to a shrub in the dessert.
The person that trust in self will have a dried up empty life.
There will be no spontaneity in their life no adventure.
The person that trust in man there life will be barren and unattractive just like a shrub that is fighting for survival in the desert.
In a salt land which is not inhabited
When salt was put down land was unable to be used for agriculture and was abandoned, sometimes for a period of centuries.
When you where in war and you didn’t want anyone else to occupy a land they would put salt down.
So Abimelech fought against the city all that day; he took the city and killed the people who were in it; and he demolished the city and sowed it with salt.
Salt prevents growth of any vegetation. A barren life is a unfruitful life.
“Woe to the rebellious children,” says the Lord, “Who take counsel, but not of Me, And who devise plans, but not of My Spirit, That they may add sin to sin;
Who walk to go down to Egypt, And have not asked My advice, To strengthen themselves in the strength of Pharaoh, And to trust in the shadow of Egypt!
sin to sin- Compound sin
“Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, And whose hope is the Lord.
For he shall be like a tree planted by the waters, Which spreads out its roots by the river, And will not fear when heat comes; But its leaf will be green, And will not be anxious in the year of drought, Nor will cease from yielding fruit.
The difference between trusting man and trusting in the Lord is the difference between cursed and blessed.
You ever put some much confidence in a person and you expect them to meet some high expectation of yours and it isn’t met. You know that inner turmoil of unmet expectations that what it means to be cursed.
When a tree is planted by the water though drought and heat may come it will flourish.
Though difficulty will come it will flourish.
We find this thought shared in Psalm 1:2-3
Blessed is the man Who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, Nor stands in the path of sinners, Nor sits in the seat of the scornful;
Blessed—literally, “oh, the happiness”—an exclamation of strong emotion, as if resulting from reflecting on the subject. The use of the plural may denote fulness and variety
This Psalmist said more in this Psalm about true happiness then all the philosophers put together.
Counsel, path and seat (or ‘assembly’, or ‘dwelling’) draw attention to the realms of thinking, behaving and belonging, in which a person’s fundamental choice of allegiance is made and carried through
It goes from thinking to behaving to belonging.
Theres a progression from action to identity.
This reveals three degrees of departure from God, three different levels of departure by showing conformity to this world
Accepting the worlds advice.
Being party to its ways
Adopting the most fatal of attitudes, and possibly the most scandalous of sinners are the scoffers.
1 The scoffers are the farthest from repentance
Surely He scorns the scornful, But gives grace to the humble.
Do not correct a scoffer, lest he hate you; Rebuke a wise man, and he will love you.
A wise son heeds his father’s instruction, But a scoffer does not listen to rebuke.
A scoffer is the farthest from repentance because he builds his life on lies.
He builds his life on gossip. His whole world is built on mockery.
They scoffed at Jesus - “If you are the King of The Jews save yourself.”
In the last days they will scoff at us.
knowing this first: that scoffers will come in the last days, walking according to their own lusts,
and saying, “Where is the promise of His coming? For since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of creation.”
For this they willfully forget: that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of water and in the water,
by which the world that then existed perished, being flooded with water.
But the heavens and the earth which are now preserved by the same word, are reserved for fire until the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.
A backslidden Christian could be any one of these stages.
These verses easily could be considered the graduations of evil.
But his delight is in the law of the Lord, And in His law he meditates day and night.
The psalm has a developing theme, implying that whatever really shapes a man’s thinking shapes his life.
So whatever shapes your thinking shapes your life.
If I choose to mediate on tik tok that will shape my life.
If I choose to mediate on money that will shape my life.
Thats why He said He meditates on the law of the Lord day and night. Because the law to shape our lives .
The law is God’s instruction. My comprehension of His law is through The Spirit of God.
You can’t blame God or get upset if you are starting to think differently about God when you’re not mediating on His word .
He shall be like a tree Planted by the rivers of water, That brings forth its fruit in its season, Whose leaf also shall not wither; And whatever he does shall prosper.
Many times in the Bible when a plant is planted by the waters it speaks of fruit And prosperous life with God.
The waters is a symbolic for the Word of God.
that He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word,
“The heart is deceitful above all things, And desperately wicked; Who can know it?
