Summary: The Reality of Christ’s Resurrection provides us with confident hope, comfort and directs our conduct.

The Confident Hope of Eternity

Harry Houdini - the man who so many times escaped death, could not escape the grave after an untimely death.
Paul proves our hope for a future resurrection by showing the despair if this life is all there is!
If there is no future resurrection; then Jesus could not have risen, preaching is pointless, faith is futile, the disciples were all deceivers, sin is still supreme, and the dead in Christ have perished.
BUT the reality is that Christ has risen from the dead! The IS a message to preach, the disciples DID witness him, our sins have been removed, we are saved.
John 20:27 CSB
27 Then he said to Thomas, “Put your finger here and look at my hands. Reach out your hand and put it into my side. Don’t be faithless, but believe.”

The Comfort of God’s Sovereignty

The death, burial and resurrection is the central part of God’s plan to bring bring this fallen creation back into subject to Himself.
The Resurrection of Jesus is the assurance of great events still to come.
He is the Firstfruits of a great harvest. In Christ all will be made alive!
The order of resurrection:
Christ - the firstfruits.
All believers at his coming!
He reigns until all enemies are under His feet. (Psalm 8:6).
He delivers the kingdom up to the Father.
The Resurrection of Jesus is the assurance that we will rise from the dead and enter the Kingdom of God. It is the guaranty of the eternal reign of God! Revelation 22:1–5 “1 Then he showed me a river of the water of life, clear as crystal, coming from the throne of God and of the Lamb, 2 in the middle of its street. On either side of the river was the tree of life, bearing twelve kinds of fruit, yielding its fruit every month; and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations. 3 There will no longer be any curse; and the throne of God and of the Lamb will be in it, and His bond-servants will serve Him; 4 they will see His face, and His name will be on their foreheads. 5 And there will no longer be any night; and they will not have need of the light of a lamp nor the light of the sun, because the Lord God will illumine them; and they will reign forever and ever.”

The Foundation for Christian Morality

Paul returns to a negative proof. Why do we live as we do if there is no resurrection?
The resurrection provides the basis of our hope in seeing loved one again!
The resurrection provides the reason for our enduring trails.
The resurrection is the motive for our conduct as believers!
Job 19:25–27 ESV
25 For I know that my Redeemer lives, and at the last he will stand upon the earth. 26 And after my skin has been thus destroyed, yet in my flesh I shall see God, 27 whom I shall see for myself, and my eyes shall behold, and not another. My heart faints within me!
