Ἐγένετο ⸀τότε τὰ ἐγκαίνια ἐν °τοῖς Ἱεροσολύμοις,* ⸁χειμὼν ἦν, 23 καὶ περιεπάτει °ὁ Ἰησοῦς ἐν τῷ ἱερῷ ἐν τῇ στοᾷ °1τοῦ Σολομῶνος.* 24 ⸀ἐκύκλωσαν οὖν αὐτὸν οἱ Ἰουδαῖοι καὶ ἔλεγον αὐτῷ· ἕως πότε τὴν ψυχὴν ἡμῶν αἴρεις; εἰ σὺ εἶ ὁ χριστός, εἰπὲ ἡμῖν παρρησίᾳ.* 25 ἀπεκρίθη ⸂αὐτοῖς ὁ Ἰησοῦς⸃· * εἶπον ὑμῖν καὶ ⸄οὐ πιστεύετε⸅· τὰ ἔργα ἃ ἐγὼ ποιῶ ἐν τῷ ὀνόματι τοῦ πατρός μου ταῦτα μαρτυρεῖ περὶ ἐμοῦ·* 26 ἀλλʼ ὑμεῖς οὐ πιστεύετε,* ὅτι οὐκ ἐστὲ ἐκ τῶν προβάτων τῶν ἐμῶν⸆.* 27 τὰ πρόβατα τὰ ἐμὰ τῆς φωνῆς μου ⸀ἀκούουσιν,* κἀγὼ γινώσκω αὐτὰ καὶ ἀκολουθοῦσίν μοι,* 28 κἀγὼ ⸉δίδωμι αὐτοῖς ζωὴν αἰώνιον⸊ καὶ οὐ μὴ ἀπόλωνται εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα καὶ ⸂οὐχ ἁρπάσει τις⸃ αὐτὰ ἐκ τῆς χειρός μου.* 29 ὁ πατήρ °μου ⸂ὃ δέδωκέν μοι πάντων μεῖζόν⸃ ἐστιν, καὶ οὐδεὶς δύναται ἁρπάζειν ἐκ τῆς χειρὸς τοῦ πατρός⸆.* 30 ἐγὼ καὶ ὁ πατὴρ ⸆ ἕν ἐσμεν.

Translation

[22] At that time the feast of Dedication was going on in Jerusalem, it was winter,

[23] and Jesus was walking in the temple in the colonnade of Solomon.

[24] Now the Judeans surrounded him and said to him, “Until when will we see your life taken up? If you are the Christ, tell us plainly.

[25] Jesus answered them, “I told you and you did not believe. The work I do in the name of my father testifies about me.

[26] But you do not believe, because you are not from my sheep.

[27[ My sheep hear my voice, and they know and follow me,

[28] and I grant them eternal life and they are not destroyed in the age and nobody can snatch them out of my hand.

[29] All that my father gives me is great, and no one is able to take them out of the hand of the Father.

[30] I and the Father are.

31 Ἐβάστασαν ⸀πάλιν λίθους οἱ Ἰουδαῖοι ἵνα ⸉λιθάσωσιν αὐτόν⸊.* 32 ἀπεκρίθη αὐτοῖς ὁ Ἰησοῦς· πολλὰ ⸂ἔργα καλὰ ἔδειξα ὑμῖν⸃ ἐκ τοῦ πατρός⸆· * διὰ ποῖον ⸀αὐτῶν ἔργον ⸉ἐμὲ λιθάζετε⸊; 33 ἀπεκρίθησαν αὐτῷ οἱ Ἰουδαῖοι⸆· περὶ καλοῦ ἔργου οὐ λιθάζομέν σε ἀλλὰ περὶ βλασφημίας,* καὶ ὅτι σὺ ἄνθρωπος ὢν ποιεῖς σεαυτὸν ⸇ θεόν. 34 ἀπεκρίθη ⸂αὐτοῖς [ὁ] Ἰησοῦς⸃· οὐκ ἔστιν γεγραμμένον ⸆ ἐν τῷ νόμῳ °ὑμῶν ὅτι ἐγὼ εἶπα·* θεοί ἐστε; 35 εἰ ἐκείνους εἶπεν θεοὺς ⸋πρὸς οὓς ὁ λόγος ⸉τοῦ θεοῦ ἐγένετο⸊⸌, καὶ οὐ δύναται λυθῆναι ⸋1ἡ γραφή⸌,* 36 ὃν ὁ πατὴρ ἡγίασεν καὶ ἀπέστειλεν εἰς τὸν κόσμον ὑμεῖς* λέγετε ὅτι βλασφημεῖς, ὅτι εἶπον·* ⸆ υἱὸς °τοῦ θεοῦ εἰμι; 37 εἰ οὐ ποιῶ τὰ ἔργα τοῦ πατρός μου, μὴ πιστεύετέ μοι·* 38 εἰ δὲ ποιῶ, κἂν ἐμοὶ μὴ ⸀πιστεύητε, τοῖς ἔργοις ⸁πιστεύετε,* ἵνα γνῶτε ⸂καὶ γινώσκητε⸃ ὅτι ἐν ἐμοὶ ὁ πατὴρ κἀγὼ ἐν ⸄τῷ πατρί⸅.* *39 ⸂Ἐζήτουν [οὖν]⸃ ⸄ αὐτὸν πάλιν⸅ πιάσαι, καὶ ἐξῆλθεν ἐκ τῆς χειρὸς αὐτῶν.*

[31] Again the Judeans picked up stones so that they could stone him.

[32] Jesus said to them, “I have shown you many good works from my father, for which work do you stone me for?

[33] The Judeans answered him, “We do not stone you about a good work but because of blasphemy, and that you, a man, make yourself God.”

[34] Jesus answered them, “Is it not written in your law that, ‘I say, you are gods’?

[35] If that is what God said to those to whom the word of God was given, and what is written cannot be loosened,

[36] how can you say that the one who the father sanctified and sent into the world and said, ‘I am the Son of God’ is blaspheming?

[37] If I do not do the works of my Father, do not believe me.

[38] But if I do, and if you do not believe me, believe the works, so that you might know and understand that the Father is in me and I am in the Father.

[39] So then they again looked for a way to seize him, but he escaped out of their hand.

40 Καὶ ἀπῆλθεν °πάλιν πέραν τοῦ Ἰορδάνου ⸋εἰς τὸν τόπον⸌ ⸀ὅπου ἦν Ἰωάννης ⸂τὸ πρῶτον⸃ βαπτίζων καὶ* ⸀1ἔμεινεν ἐκεῖ. *41 καὶ πολλοὶ ἦλθον πρὸς αὐτὸν καὶ ἔλεγον °ὅτι Ἰωάννης μὲν ⸉σημεῖον ἐποίησεν⸊ ⸀οὐδέν, πάντα δὲ ὅσα ⸂εἶπεν Ἰωάννης⸃ περὶ τούτου ἀληθῆ ἦν.* 42 καὶ ⸂πολλοὶ ἐπίστευσαν εἰς αὐτὸν ἐκεῖ⸃.*

[40] And going away again to the other side of the Jordan to the place where John was first baptizing and he stayed in that place.

[41] And many came to him and said that John had not performed any signs, but everything that John said about this one was true.

[42] And many believed in him in that place.
