Palm Sunday

Text: Matthew 21:2 “Saying unto them, Go into the village over against you, and straightway ye shall find an ass tied, and a colt with her: loose them, and bring them unto me.”

Introduction:

Palm Sunday: What a short lived grand day.

But a fulfillment of a 700 year old Prophecy coming to pass. Zechariah 9:9 “Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion; Shout, O daughter of Jerusalem: Behold, thy King cometh unto thee: He is just, and having salvation; Lowly, and riding upon an ass, And upon a colt the foal of an ass.”

2. Bethphage: Clark Gable born in Cadiz Ohio, Plain Georgia born Jimmy Carter, Lester Roloff put Corpus Christi Texas these people but communities on the map, Zane Grey but Zainsville on the map. But none like Jesus Christ for an eternal but on the map. Many important folks can visit place but none as important as this one.

3. Matthew 21:10 “And when he was come into Jerusalem, all the city was moved, saying, Who is this?” One with guts, Class, Character, liken unto one of none other.

I. The Character Of Christ: Insightful, Passionate for God’s will, Compassionate for all souls.

A. Insightful: “...go into the village over against you.” Sight like none other.

1. Not insight like so many falsely gain sayers of our day. Many have been exposed for who they are.

2. Years ago program the 64,000 dollar question and the brought an 11 year old in on it, but ended up being exposed as Hoax.

3. Some of these cone artist I don’t know how they can keep a straight face.

B. Willfulness: Rendered, yielded (those animals and owner). how would you do if someone wanted to walk away with your animal, how would your animal do?

C. Omniscience: Knows and see much more than most give credit for.

II. Character Of Disciples: "..loose them and bring them to me.”

A. Western days, horse thief's could be hung 1750 -1818. And over 13% were in America.

B. Caring out small task: Not above their pay grade.

1. May seem insignificant yet small to carry out well with right attitude is important.

2. They did not have to have the spot light, true servant.

3. They did not have to be Begged, Babied, Burped, Buffeted or Beat. Should not have to brake ones arm to serve the living God.

C. Homeless man: He gave one dollar. Same man at same exit all the time always in a great mood and excited at ramp.. He would give him his change. If light was red he spoke some for a short time. One day at work Boss called him in and said you may be laid off, do to work slowing. He woundered how he would pay his bills. Came to rampt and man was there, he didn’t have any change today and it was not evn on his mind. He was hoping to only caught the green light today. But no, Red light, homeless man said to him “today I do something for you” He reached into his pocket and gave him a dollar. He got out of the car and cried on that mans shoulder.

III. Character of the The Towns people:

Matthew 21:8–9 “And a very great multitude spread their garments in the way; others cut down branches from the trees, and strawed them in the way. And the multitudes that went before, and that followed, cried, saying, Hosanna to the Son of David: Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord; Hosanna in the highest.”

A. “Hosanna to the son of David...” save now in meaning

1. Not about Rabbits, Chocolate candy, egg baskets but, Him completely focus.

2. Name Easter is a name for a Eastern Saxon god or goddess of Spring, “Eostre which became to us Easter. I like Resurrection Sunday! Lent, Ash, liturgy services like sacraments. Is a Futility goddess is how the Rabbit's get in on it.

IV. Character Of The Donkey:

Matthew 21:7 “And brought the ass, and the colt, and put on them their clothes, and they set him thereon.”

A. Willing service animals: Older may be teaching the younger here, how things are done.

1. Hey did Jesus ride both? “...set Him thereon.”

2. One said looks like left over parts. They had to be redeemed with a lamb in the Old Testament ,Exodus 13:13 “And every firstling of an ass thou shalt redeem with a lamb; and if thou wilt not redeem it, then thou shalt break his neck: and all the firstborn of man among thy children shalt thou redeem.” . May be cause could not reproduce, not sure. but also they are a type of us.

3. Good qualities: Study, reliable, dependable, beast of burden (can carry heavy loads), sure footed, swift in rough terrain, satisfies beast, can be very independent, fights off predators, stubborn, they don’t give up easily.Stronger than a horse of its size.

B. An incredible memory. They recognize other Donkeys they were with 25 years earlier. In the desert the can hear the call of another Donkey 60 miles away. Work animals used in Mines, Egypt used them to hall their silver, gold, silks, metals, etc. Used as guard animals of herds even today.
