Good morning church… My name is Spencer Roth, I’m the worship director here at Christ Covenant and I’m really excited to be able to preach today. You know what would make this even more fun...? If Jackson and I switched roles for the day and he got up here and led our singing from guitar. Maybe we can push for that the next time. We’ll see.
Our text this morning is Matthew 5:13-16. And I want to remind us that when we open up the bible… this is not just any other book. These are not my words. These words come to us now in 2025 as the very word of God. So now let us turn our hearts and minds to the wisdom and guidance found in the word of God and may God bless the reading of His word now…
“You are the salt of the earth, but if salt has lost its taste, how shall its saltiness be restored? It is no longer good for anything except to be thrown out and trampled under people’s feet.
“You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.
This is the word of the Lord.
