1. Scripture + Hook (30–45 seconds)

Read the passage:
1 Corinthians 12:21–22 ESV
21 The eye cannot say to the hand, “I have no need of you,” nor again the head to the feet, “I have no need of you.” 22 On the contrary, the parts of the body that seem to be weaker are indispensable
Open with a hook: We cannot have a healthy mind without a healthy body. Think of Pastor Greg being the mind, and us the body. We cannot have a healthy Pastor Greg, without a healthy you.
Eat 1000 carrot cakes and tell me how your mentally doing. :)
Pastor Greg Laurie cannot say to us he doesn’t need us because the Word says he does need us.
Pastor Greg needs us.
How do become healthy?

3. Exalt Christ + Apply It (1–1.5 minutes)

Jesus said “apart from me you can do nothing” in John 15:5. We need Jesus to fill us with his Holy Spirit so we can serve in the way he wants us to serve.
Jesus didn’t come to be served, he came to serve. We must serve, not to be served, but to serve. You may ask, Jake, how can we be served when we’re serving? What’s your heart behind serving, is it to serve Christ or are you trying to do it for you, are you trying to earn brownie points, what’s the heart.

1. Hook + Scripture (30–45 seconds)

Open with a hook: a relatable question, a brief story, a current event, or a heartfelt observation. Ex: “Have you ever felt like God was silent when you needed Him most?”
Read the passage: choose 1–3 verses max that clearly connect to one main idea.
Keep it focused. Don’t try to unpack too much.

2. Expose the Truth (1–2 minutes)

Explain briefly what’s happening in the text.
Give just enough context so the listener isn’t confused.
Draw out one clear truth.
Focus on a single idea—what is this passage showing us about God, ourselves, or the gospel?
“In this verse, David isn’t just complaining—he’s expressing raw faith. He’s not hiding his pain, but bringing it directly to God. That’s worship in real life.”

3. Exalt Christ + Apply It (1–1.5 minutes)

Connect to Christ or the gospel (even from the Old Testament).
Ask: How does this point me to Jesus? How does this deepen my love for Him or trust in His grace?
Application: What should the listener believe, feel, or do in response?
Keep it personal, relevant, and reflective.
End with a simple challenge or encouragement.
“So if your heart feels heavy today, don’t clean yourself up first—bring it to God honestly. That’s not weakness; that’s faith.”
