Background
Elisha was in a long standing idolatrous nation.
The boys were not children. They were young men.
23 He went up from there to Bethel, and while he was going up on the way, some small boys came out of the city and jeered at him, saying, “Go up, you baldhead! Go up, you baldhead!”
Telling him to go up like Elijah did.
Taunting God and being derogatory toward the man of God.
24 And he turned around, and when he saw them, he cursed them in the name of the Lord. And two she-bears came out of the woods and tore forty-two of the boys.
He cursed them because they were defaming God.
Judgment came upon the young boys.
25 From there he went on to Mount Carmel, and from there he returned to Samaria.
He went on to the area that
God is a God of love.
He is also a God of mercy and justice.
He wishes that none perish
Romans 3:23 “23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,”
Romans 6:23 “23 For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
John 3:3 “3 Jesus answered him, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God.””

Romans 10:9–10 “9 because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.”
