Esther 2:19 NKJV
19 When virgins were gathered together a second time, Mordecai sat within the king’s gate.
Maybe a reason suggested for two gatherings is the importance for getting this right.
The king had previously been embarrassed by queen Vashti.
The fact the Mordecai set within the king’s gate suggest he had became some kind of palace official.
This might have been so that Mordecai could keep an eye on what was happening.
Esther 2:20 NKJV
20 Now Esther had not revealed her family and her people, just as Mordecai had charged her, for Esther obeyed the command of Mordecai as when she was brought up by him.
Mordecai was a wise man that instructed Esther not to reveal who she was.
According to the LXX (Septuagint) this was according to God’s will.

The Septuagint (also known as the LXX) is a translation of the Hebrew Bible into the Greek language. The name “Septuagint” comes from the Latin word for seventy. The tradition is that 70 (or 72) Jewish scholars were the translators behind the Septuagint. The Septuagint was translated in the third and second centuries B.C. in Alexandria, Egypt. As Israel was under the authority of Greece for several centuries, the Greek language became more and more common. By the 2nd and 1st centuries B.C., most people in Israel spoke Greek as their primary language. That is why the effort was made to translate the Hebrew Bible into Greek—so that those who did not understand Hebrew could have the Scriptures in a language they could understand. The Septuagint represents the first major effort at translating a significant religious text from one language into another.

Esther 2:20 Brenton LXX En
20 Now Esther had not discovered her kindred; for so Mardochæus commanded her, to fear God, and perform his commandments, as when she was with him: and Esther changed not her manner of life.
Esther was raised by Mordecai and listened to Him.
Proverbs 22:6 NKJV
6 Train up a child in the way he should go, And when he is old he will not depart from it.
According to the Septuagint she was raise “to fear God and perform his commandments, as when she was with him.”
There was going to be a plan to kill king Ahasuerus and Mordecai was in a position to stop that from happening.
Esther 2:21–23 NKJV
21 In those days, while Mordecai sat within the king’s gate, two of the king’s eunuchs, Bigthan and Teresh, doorkeepers, became furious and sought to lay hands on King Ahasuerus. 22 So the matter became known to Mordecai, who told Queen Esther, and Esther informed the king in Mordecai’s name. 23 And when an inquiry was made into the matter, it was confirmed, and both were hanged on a gallows; and it was written in the book of the chronicles in the presence of the king.
What were some possible reasons for Mordecai to save the king.
The providence of God in his plan to save His people.
With-in God’s plan:
To obey God in..
Obeying the government
Romans 13:1–2 NKJV
1 Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God. 2 Therefore whoever resists the authority resists the ordinance of God, and those who resist will bring judgment on themselves.
1 Peter 2:13–17 NKJV
13 Therefore submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord’s sake, whether to the king as supreme, 14 or to governors, as to those who are sent by him for the punishment of evildoers and for the praise of those who do good. 15 For this is the will of God, that by doing good you may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men—16 as free, yet not using liberty as a cloak for vice, but as bondservants of God. 17 Honor all people. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honor the king.
strengthening Esther’s position as Queen in God’s plan to save His people.
Esther 2:22 NKJV
22 So the matter became known to Mordecai, who told Queen Esther, and Esther informed the king in Mordecai’s name.
Could this have strengthened King Ahasuerus relationship with Esther and influenced him to raise his scepter and listen to her later.
Esther 5:2 NKJV
2 So it was, when the king saw Queen Esther standing in the court, that she found favor in his sight, and the king held out to Esther the golden scepter that was in his hand. Then Esther went near and touched the top of the scepter.
