1 Samuel 16:7 NLT
But the Lord said to Samuel, “Don’t judge by his appearance or height, for I have rejected him. The Lord doesn’t see things the way you see them. People judge by outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”
1 Samuel 16:11–13 NLT
Then Samuel asked, “Are these all the sons you have?” “There is still the youngest,” Jesse replied. “But he’s out in the fields watching the sheep and goats.” “Send for him at once,” Samuel said. “We will not sit down to eat until he arrives.” So Jesse sent for him. He was dark and handsome, with beautiful eyes. And the Lord said, “This is the one; anoint him.” So as David stood there among his brothers, Samuel took the flask of olive oil he had brought and anointed David with the oil. And the Spirit of the Lord came powerfully upon David from that day on. Then Samuel returned to Ramah.
1 Samuel 17:34–37 NLT
But David persisted. “I have been taking care of my father’s sheep and goats,” he said. “When a lion or a bear comes to steal a lamb from the flock, I go after it with a club and rescue the lamb from its mouth. If the animal turns on me, I catch it by the jaw and club it to death. I have done this to both lions and bears, and I’ll do it to this pagan Philistine, too, for he has defied the armies of the living God! The Lord who rescued me from the claws of the lion and the bear will rescue me from this Philistine!” Saul finally consented. “All right, go ahead,” he said. “And may the Lord be with you!”
1 Samuel 17:48–50 NLT
As Goliath moved closer to attack, David quickly ran out to meet him. Reaching into his shepherd’s bag and taking out a stone, he hurled it with his sling and hit the Philistine in the forehead. The stone sank in, and Goliath stumbled and fell face down on the ground. So David triumphed over the Philistine with only a sling and a stone, for he had no sword.
God is Doing a new thing in your generation. He wants to reveal himself in our culture through you.
Movements where the outpouring of the Holy Spirit occurs. It exists in the middle of significant cultural shifts.
He had to face the process before he could embrace the promise.
Luke 18:35–42 ESV
As he drew near to Jericho, a blind man was sitting by the roadside begging. And hearing a crowd going by, he inquired what this meant. They told him, “Jesus of Nazareth is passing by.” And he cried out, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!” And those who were in front rebuked him, telling him to be silent. But he cried out all the more, “Son of David, have mercy on me!” And Jesus stopped and commanded him to be brought to him. And when he came near, he asked him, “What do you want me to do for you?” He said, “Lord, let me recover my sight.” And Jesus said to him, “Recover your sight; your faith has made you well.”
Jesus is not just about the moment, and He is just not about the process, but He is about both.
Encounters without discipleship produce cycles. The moments are meant to initiate something, not be the end of something.
True Discipleship is moving from the encounter that you set you free, into a place of devotion.
You will always function outwardly as a consequence of what you believe inwardly.
You are a King’s Kid. People saw David as a Kid, God saw him as King.
You were not made to fit in, you were made to be set apart.
David was a man after God’s own heart. David was fascinated with God.
Fascination for Jesus will naturally deal with distraction.
What Predators are trying to stop you from achieving your promise?
Sometimes, God will not conquer what we conceal until it is revealed.
Its not about the greatness of the giant, its about the greatness of God.
