READ 1 Corinthians 15:1 What does Gospel mean? (good news) What is the Good news of the Gospel? (Jesus died for our sins and rose from the dead)
Paul tells us several things about the Gospel in verse two. He says 1. The Gospel is preached. 2. We recieve it. 3. We stand on it. 4. This is how we are saved form sin.
The Good News is our foundation.
Pul is going to tell us several parts of out foundation ( the Gospel) see if you can hear them as I read.
READ v.3 What does Paul tell us first? (Christ died for our sins in accordance with scripture.)
Place the block that says “Christ died for our sins”
READ v. 4 What is the next part of the Good news? (Jesus was buried and raised on the third day)
Place “Jesus was buried” and “Jesus was raised on the third day”
In verses 5-8 Paul is going to share the evidence that these events happened.
READ v.5-8 Who did the risen Jesus appear to?
DIG Deeper: Fallen asleep is a term used for those who trust in God and have died. They will be raised again at the last day.
On top of the three blocks you have placed lay the 6 blocks with names of those Jesus appeared to.
Cephas (Peter the Apostle), the Twelve, 500 of his followers, James, all the Apostles, Paul
Dig Deeper Acts 9:3-5 tells Pauls account of the risen Jesus appearing to him on the road to Damascus
This foundation is what our faith is built on. As you talk, build the church.
SAY the 12 disciples saw all of these events with Jesus. They saw the miracles he performed.
They saw many people be healed. They listened to His teaching. They recognized Jesus as the Mesaiah. The Savior. T
hey spent three years learing from him. He told them that he would be going away. He told the disciples that he would send a helper.
Jesus died on the cross. His followers were incredibly sad. They were terrified. What if someone came for them too?
Then, on the third Day, Jesus walked out of the tomb. God raised Him from the dead.
He appeared to many people, on several different occasions. Then he asscended to Heaven.
His Followers hid in fear unil the Helper came to them.
They were filled with the Holy Spirit. They knew what they had to do.
They took the message of the miracles, the teachings, the death, the news of the risen Christ to the ends of the Earth.
They wrote down everything they had seen. They traveled. They preached. The trained up new disciples.
They started Churches. They prayed for the growth of these churches.
This is how we know the true story of Jesus. What the Bible says about his life, death and resuurection is true.
READ v. 14 Remove the block that says Christ raised from the dead kocking down the church you built
If we deny that Jesus raised from the dead, what happens to the church? ( It falls apart)
READ v. 20-22
Jesus is our firm foundation. It is on Him we base our belief. We have many reasons that we discussed today to trust that the resurrection is the truth. The apostles died for this. They believed so firmly that Jesus was the Christ, the Son of God, That he lived and died and lived again so that WE could live again. This is the Gospel. We can belive the Good News.
