God calls Moses from a burning bush to liberate His people from the oppression of Egypt. They had been enslaved for more than 400 years and it was time for God to intervene in the liberation of His people. God called a stuttering person with his brother to give a sharp message to the king about letting go of God’s people from his power and allow them to worship Him freely.

Some scholars believe that God was showing Egypt that their God doe not have anything on Him. Nonetheless, the heart of Pharoah was getting harder and harder. God in a sense was also trying to save Pharoah giving him the opportunity to be saved but Pharoah had forgotten who saved his nation from earlier pestilence. As a result, God had to make the ultimate sacrifice. Blood had to be shed. Introduction

Prayer

Exodus 12:1–2

“1 Now the Lord spoke to Moses and Aaron in the land of Egypt, saying, 2 “This month shall be your beginning of months; it shall be the first month of the year to you.”
Through what God was going to institute through Moses was going to be a new beginning. A new year.
For new years we do resolutions for new beginning. God wanted to start something new with His people that day.
Today can be your new beginning. You don’t have to wait until December today can be your new year to begin a new life.

Exodus 12:3-4

Exodus 12:3–4 (NKJV)

3 Speak to all the congregation of Israel, saying: ‘On the tenth of this month every man shall take for himself a lamb, according to the house of his father, a lamb for a household. 4 And if the household is too small for the lamb, let him and his neighbor next to his house take it according to the number of the persons; according to each man’s need you shall make your count for the lamb.
God gave ten days for the family to prepare for this event. God is not a pushy God. God allows you to think and understand what you are doing. God wants you to do your actions because of your commitment to him not because of spontaneous emotional decisions.
My responsibility is not only to my family but also my neighbor to make sure that the lamb is sufficient for them.

Exodus 12:5

Your lamb shall be without blemish, a male of the first year. You may take it from the sheep or from the goats.
Had to be the best lamb
The strongest lamb

Exodus 12:6

Now you shall keep it until the fourteenth day of the same month. Then the whole assembly of the congregation of Israel shall kill it at twilight.
They picked the lamb on the 10th day and cared for the lamb for four more days, knowing that this lamb was going to die.

Exodus 12:7-11

And they shall take some of the blood and put it on the two doorposts and on the lintel of the houses where they eat it. Then they shall eat the flesh on that night; roasted in fire, with unleavened bread and with bitter herbs they shall eat it. Do not eat it raw, nor boiled at all with water, but roasted in fire—its head with its legs and its entrails. You shall let none of it remain until morning, and what remains of it until morning you shall burn with fire. And thus you shall eat it: with a belt on your waist, your sandals on your feet, and your staff in your hand. So you shall eat it in haste. It is the LORD’s Passover.
The blood needed to be shown of the house where the lamb was being consumed.
Because while God’s people was consuming the lamb inside the home someone was going to be visiting from the outside.
The symbol in the inside has to connect with the symbol of the outside.

Exodus 12:12-13

‘For I will pass through the land of Egypt on that night, and will strike all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and beast; and against all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgment: I am the LORD. Now the blood shall be a sign for you on the houses where you are. And when I see the blood, I will pass over you; and the plague shall not be on you to destroy you when I strike the land of Egypt.
The blood shall be a sign for you on the houses where you are.
God is looking for homes that are stained with the blood.
while they where eating the lamb
the destruction did not come about there home because the blood was in the outside.

Revelation 7:9-17

After these things I looked, and behold, a great multitude which no one could number, of all nations, tribes, peoples, and tongues, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, with palm branches in their hands, and crying out with a loud voice, saying, “Salvation belongs to our God who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb!” All the angels stood around the throne and the elders and the four living creatures, and fell on their faces before the throne and worshiped God, saying: “Amen! Blessing and glory and wisdom, Thanksgiving and honor and power and might, Be to our God forever and ever. Amen.” Then one of the elders answered, saying to me, “Who are these arrayed in white robes, and where did they come from?” And I said to him, “Sir, you know.” So he said to me, “These are the ones who come out of the great tribulation, and washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb. Therefore they are before the throne of God, and serve Him day and night in His temple. And He who sits on the throne will dwell among them. They shall neither hunger anymore nor thirst anymore; the sun shall not strike them, nor any heat; for the Lamb who is in the midst of the throne will shepherd them and lead them to living fountains of waters. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.”
