PT 1- The Problem of Sin

-Happy Easter Sunday: This Easter Sunday I feel like I need to bring you into some of my memories.

When I was growing up, My grandparents had a farm and I would find myself spending some summers down there.

-I was an aspiring football player wanting to show the world that I was going to win the next superbowl for the Dallas Cowboys.
-On the farm there was a barn, we would play by
-I threw what I thought to be the perfect pass to my cousin, right into the window of the barn.
-I shattered the Glass completely and immediately I ran from the scene!

Sin is like the Broken window. We try to hide it, pretend its no big deal, but deep down , we know something is not right.

We ALL have sinned, and it creates a disconnect between us and God.

Romans 3:23 “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,”

I am just grateful that the story doesnt end there… God knew we were going to mess up.

Many times I am asked if God loves you so much why did he put so many rules in the old Testament.

The reality is so that we can depend on Him and trust that He has sent a plan to restore us!

Without Him, we are dead, we have nothing to live for…. BUT WHEN GOD IS WITH US, Something begins to change and what was dead begins to have life!

Even dead bones rattle with hope when God breathes—what sin has buried, His grace can resurrect.

PT 2 - The Price Jesus Paid

Going back to the story…

-On the farm, after me and my cousin invaded the scene.

-My Grandpa comes out to the back a couple hours later (How many of you know you really wanted that to be grandpa…)

-He is upset and is looking for answers

-I am so nervous… I deserve whatever is coming my way…

-When Grandpa asked who broke the window, something happened….

-My cousin took the blame…

Just like my cousin in that moment, JESUS stepped in and took the blame for your sin!

We were guilty, but He chose to take the punishment so we could be free.

Thats the love we don’t deserve- But its what He gave.

Jesus Loves you so much that He….

is betrayed by the whole city of Jerusalem as the same people were saying Hosana were saying Crucify him a couple days later… Even his best friend Peter denies him.
He is given a choice to put an end to all of what was to come but Jesus followed through.
People chose a criminal over Jesus who was innocent..
Then becomes the punishment…
Jesus was whipped with a whip designed to literally remove flesh.
He was crowned with thorns
Forced to carry a 300 lb cross almost a 1/2 a mile with Broken Bones
He was humiliated and he was stripped naked
Nailed to a cross, lifted in the air to die a slow 6 hour painful death.
In the midst of all this His last words were for you and I….

Father Forgive them, for they don’t know what they are doing.

Jesus knew this wasn’t the end but He wanted to make sure the guilt and shame wouldn’t take the roman soldiers life.

Jesus passes and all seem lost. He is sat in his resting place but God has another plan…

PT 3- The Power of the Resurrection

While Jesus suffered, on the 3rd day the Stone was rolled away and The tomb was empty!

Jesus lived up to His part, He is offering you salvation today!

John 3:16 ““For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.”
HOW YOU MIGHT BE FEELING IN THIS MOMENT
You might feel distant from God.
You might feel like you don’t deserve salvation (your correct)
It cant be this simple, but it is!

Today, is your day… I want to give you a time of Response….

-Something happens in the Spiritual when you respond in the Physical!
-If you are rededicating your life or saying Yes to Jesus flood these altars!
-We want to lead you in a prayer right now that will change your life!
