1. Separated for Significance
1. Separated for Significance
John 17:16
Perhaps you could elaborate on how Jesus emphasizes His followers' separation from worldly values, echoing His own distinct nature. Highlight that believers, like Christ, are meant to live in the world but are called to reflect a different set of values driven by God's Kingdom. This distinctiveness prepares them for sanctification through His Word, thus offering hope and purpose beyond worldly standards.
2. Sanctified by Scripture
2. Sanctified by Scripture
John 17:17
You could stress the power of truth in transformation, explaining how Scripture serves as the believer’s guide in becoming more Christ-like. Emphasize that sanctification is the ongoing cleansing and setting apart of individuals through the truth of God's Word. Encourage deep engagement with Scripture as the means through which believers can grow spiritually and align more closely with God's will.
3. Sent into Service
3. Sent into Service
John 17:18
Consider discussing Jesus' commission to His followers, sending them into the world as representatives of His mission. This involves living out their sanctification through active participation in God's work. Highlight that being set apart means being equipped for service, empowered by the truth of His Word, and embodying the missional aspect of this sanctification in practical, impactful ways.
anctify Myself, that they also may be sanctified by the truth.
On last week we said that we are in the world but not of the world. That God has saved us. Santifed us, and filled us with his holy spirit not live on a compound by ourserves but He saved to be change agents in the world.
The church, this church…There are some things that we ought to be about in the world. God has brought out a mighty long way.
Delivered us from drug addction, alcohol addiction, sex addiction, poverty, And God did not save us to just come to church sing our 4 songs collect a offering, listen a preacher and go about our mary way. NO,
But we are saved from the world system so that we can go back into the world and display God’s glory!
Now, Jesus knows that as we get busy doing the Lord’s work we will be attacked. So Jesus prays to our daddy that we would have his joy and be protected from the evil one.
Come on I know he coming, you know he coming, and Jesus knows that he’s coming. But God, The son of God appeals to his daddy to protect his disciples from the devil. From the Evil One.
So not only do we have opposition from the devil and he’s a formidable foe. But the world hates us to. The wolds hates the true disciple because they are not like us.
The more WORD we have in the more and more we look, think, and act like God. And you what God hate? SIN. God hates sin. God and sin are mutually exclusive. The world is full of sin and foolishness. The more word we have in us the less foolishness we will stand for.
You we got a lot of so called believers and they fall for the deception or the okie doke because they ain’t got no word. They got religion but no word.
When your back us up against the wall you don’t need religion you need the word! The word will drive them away or drive them close to god one are the other…
As we begin to hate sin the world will begin to hate us. Your own blood family will have distain for you because you look like God.
So, Jesus knows that his reals one, only the real ones will be persecuted. They will assassinate your character, lie on you, bring up old stuff that you used to do to discredit you.
Satan and his demons will get busy and come against you to oppose the work that you are dong. He will try to discourge you.
Try to make you throw in the towel.
He will send temptation your way…
Try to make you go back…The Big homie from Vallejo said, I hope I don’t go back to slagin yay O…
The truth is the attack will come it could be your finances, mental health, physical health, your kids, the boss on the job.
The devil is cold and we live in a cold, cold world… that he will try to use the person closest to you attack you.
It could be anything or anyone but the attack is real and it’s from the underworld. And none of us are exempt from the influence of demons and the evil.
But Jesus prays for you. He prays for your protection from the evil one.
I think that we should pray like Jesus prayed. We should be praying for our loved ones that they would be protected from the evil one.
Protect my babies, cousin, nephew, niece, son, daughter, mothers, father, pastor, sister, brother, grandchild from the evil one.
The bible says, 8 Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.
The devil is lurking trying to catch us laking…Don’t get caught laking…
Jesus is getting ready to do what he ultimately came to do. Die on the cross for our sins, and be reaised 3 days later will all power, and ascended to heaven and be seated at the right hand of the father to make intercession for us.
But he was not leaving his disciples without any help. But he prays to Hid daddy that he would send another helper, The paraclete. The holy spirit, to lead, guide reveal truth and comfort us.
Out protection plan from evil includes Holy spirit! Holy Spirit gives us divine power to walk right, live right, talk right and do right.
When we are under pressure or attack from the evil one we have holy spirit in us giving us supernatural protection from the enemy. (Receive that over your life) Holy Ghost Power! It has everything to do with empowering and enabling us to live this Christian life victoriously!
Jesus prays for protection and santication.
17 Sanctify[i] them by Your truth. Your word is truth.
Jesus prays that his disciples would be sanctified. Holy and set apart for the master use. To be more like God and less like the world. Can I say something right through here?
As holy believers and I know that we are being santfied say by day. But there are just some places and environments that we just should not be in.
Oh ya’ll going to the kick back? Well who all going be over there? Ah naw I can’t go. Ya’ll go ahead I already know how they get down. I tryna be santifed…I can’t kick it with them. They drink to much and smoke too many blunts.
The spirit of God ought to rise up in you have you pump your breaks! Somebody ought to be able to stand up and be like naw babe we can’t go overthere. And babe ought to be like you’re right we aint going.
Can I say some more? I said this earlier. The word of God will sanitfy you. The prayer is to be santfied from the world right. When you gotthe word in you.
You been reading it. Praying it. Coming to church on Sundays to get it.
Getting all through the week. You literally have to tell the Holy Spirit to shut up to conform to the world.
God sent you his spirit for protection. He’s giving you His word for sanctification.
You just gotta be in willful disobedience to be like the world once he has saved you, sanctified, filled you with his spirit and given His word.
Sanctify them through your word. Your Rhema word is truth! When you hear it, read it and apply it your your life you will be sanctified day by day!
