Now we know what DOGE means in the news. It’s stands for Department of Government Efficiency. But what does DOGE mean when it comes tov living a Godly life? First of all as Christians, we are required by God to live a life that is modeled after Him. We need to life in a way that is pleasing to Him!
Ephesians 5:1–2 (NLT) Tells us to:
Imitate God, therefore, in everything you do, because you are his dear children.
Live a life filled with love, following the example of Christ. He loved us and offered himself as a sacrifice for us, a pleasing aroma to God.
The Greek word used here for imitate is mimētēs which means to imitate. The word imitate in Websters Dictionary means to follow as a pattern, model, or example. So the best way to live a Godly life is to be an imitator of Jesus. So let’s look at the DOGE way of living a Godly Life!
Ephesians 5:10 (NLT)
Carefully determine what pleases the Lord.

D - Discern What is Pleasing to the Lord!

One of the things that pleases God is faith. God’s word tells us that without it we are not pleasing to Him.
Hebrews 11:6 (NKJV)
But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.
2 Corinthians 5:9 (AMP)
Therefore, whether we are at home [on earth away from Him] or away from home [and with Him], we are constantly ambitious and strive earnestly to be pleasing to Him.
So our goal is to always discern what is pleasing to God.
Romans 12:12 (NIV) Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.
We are pleasing to God when we give up the good for the best!
Galatians 5:9 (NIV)
“A little yeast works through the whole batch of dough.”
1 John 1:6 (NIV)
If we claim to have fellowship with him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live out the truth.
James 4:7 (NKJV)
Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.

O - Overcome Sin and Deception!

We just don’t stop sinning, we overcome it with goodness, righteousness and truth. You and I can stop eating certain desserts but that alone will not make you healthy. You would need to eat healthy foods to be healthy. In the same way just not doing really bad things is not good enough. You need to replace those bad things with things that are, like we saw in the first point, pleasing to God.
Ephesians 5:8 (AMP)
For once you were darkness, but now you are light in the Lord; walk as children of Light [lead the lives of those native-born to the Light].

G - Guard Your Witness and Integrity!

We don’t live the same way so we have to guard the new way we live. We must lead lives as though we never did walk in sin and darkness before. When we do this we will guard our witness. It’s important to not allow ourselves to “slip back” The Passion Bible says it this way,
Ephesians 5:8 (TPT)
Once your life was full of sin’s darkness, but now you have the very light of our Lord shining through you because of your union with him. Your mission is to live as children flooded with his revelation-light!
Our mission is to live in the Light always and so we cannot afford to go backwards! Guard your witness!
Guard your integrity. The definition of integrity is firm adherence to a code of especially moral or artistic values incorruptibility
We need to live this way always!
2 Timothy 2:4 (NKJV)
No one engaged in warfare entangles himself with the affairs of this life, that he may please him who enlisted him as a soldier.
Galatians 5:1 (NKJV)
Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage.

E - Eliminate Spiritual Distractions!

We must not get distracted. We live in a world that is filled with distractions and when we meditate on the things that distract us they can drop down into our spirit man and distract us from the spiritual things of God!
Hebrews 12:1 (NKJV)
Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us,
Let’s stay focused and run this race
