Our Passover Lamb John 1:29
Our Passover Lamb John 1:29
Isaiah 46:10 “ Declaring the end from the beginning, And from ancient times things that are not yet done, Saying, ‘My counsel shall stand, And I will do all My pleasure,’”
Six days. Six days before Passover, Jesus came to bethany.
John 12:12–19 “ The next day a great multitude that had come to the feast, when they heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem, 13 took branches of palm trees and went out to meet Him, and cried out: “Hosanna! ‘Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!’ The King of Israel!” 14 Then Jesus, when He had found a young donkey, sat on it; as it is written: 15 “Fear not, daughter of Zion; Behold, your King is coming, Sitting on a donkey’s colt.” 16 His disciples did not understand these things at first; but when Jesus was glorified, then they remembered that these things were written about Him and that they had done these things to Him. 17 Therefore the people, who were with Him when He called Lazarus out of his tomb and raised him from the dead, bore witness. 18 For this reason the people also met Him, because they heard that He had done this sign. 19 The Pharisees therefore said among themselves, “You see that you are accomplishing nothing. Look, the world has gone after Him!””
Exodus 12, Leviticus 23, Numbers 9, Joshua 5. The great trust. When God kept his promise and delivered Israel from death and slavery. The passover lamb was chosen on Nissan 10 - the same date that Israel brought the lambs without blemish into their homes.
The people celebrated a king, the world was getting a savior. John 1:29 “ The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, “Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!” 1 Peter 1:19 “ but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot.” 1 Corinthians 5:7 “ Therefore purge out the old leaven, that you may be a new lump, since you truly are unleavened. For indeed Christ, our Passover, was sacrificed for us.” Hebrews 10:11–12 “ And every priest stands ministering daily and offering repeatedly the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins. 12 But this Man, after He had offered one sacrifice for sins forever, sat down at the right hand of God,”
What a day. What a day.
