EASTER: It’s More Than An Egg!

1 Corinthians 15:1–2 “Now I make known to you, brethren, the gospel which I preached to you, which also you received, in which also you stand, by which also you are saved, if you hold fast the word which I preached to you, unless you believed in vain.”

The Easter celebration is a fun time for children and adults alike. I think every family has some type of tradition that is special to them and our family is no different. However, when I was 25 years old, I discovered that EASTER means more than an egg and today, Pastor Danny and me are going to take 35 minutes or less and tell you about EASTER: It’s More Than an Egg!

I. The BIRTH from the VIRGIN is more than an egg! Luke 1:26–27 “Now in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God to a city in Galilee called Nazareth, to a virgin engaged to a man whose name was Joseph, of the descendants of David; and the virgin’s name was Mary.” Luke 1:31 ““And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall name Him Jesus.” Luke 1:34 “Mary said to the angel, “How can this be, since I am a virgin?”” Luke 1:35 “The angel answered and said to her, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; and for that reason the holy Child shall be called the Son of God.” Luke 1:37–38 ““For nothing will be impossible with God.” And Mary said, “Behold, the bondslave of the Lord; may it be done to me according to your word.” And the angel departed from her.”

II. The DEATH upon the CROSS is more than an egg! 1 Peter 3:18 “For Christ also died for sins once for all, the just for the unjust, so that He might bring us to God, having been put to death in the flesh, but made alive in the spirit;”

III. The ACTIVITY below the GRAVE is more than an egg! 1 Peter 3:19 “in which also He went and made proclamation to the spirits now in prison,” Luke 23:43 “And He said to him, “Truly I say to you, today you shall be with Me in Paradise.”

IV. The RESURRECTION from the DEAD is more than an egg! 1 Corinthians 15:3 “For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received, that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures,” 1 Corinthians 15:4 “and that He was buried, and that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures,” 1 Corinthians 15:5 “and that He appeared to Cephas, then to the twelve.” 1 Corinthians 15:6–8 “After that He appeared to more than five hundred brethren at one time, most of whom remain until now, but some have fallen asleep; then He appeared to James, then to all the apostles; and last of all, as to one untimely born, He appeared to me also.”

V. The ASCENSION up to HEAVEN is more than an egg! Acts 1:2 “until the day when He was taken up to heaven, after He had by the Holy Spirit given orders to the apostles whom He had chosen.” Ephesians 4:8 “Therefore it says, “When He ascended on high, He led captive a host of captives, And He gave gifts to men.”

VI. The BAPTISM with the SPIRIT is more than an egg! John 7:39 “But this He spoke of the Spirit, whom those who believed in Him were to receive; for the Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet glorified.” Luke 24:49 ““And behold, I am sending forth the promise of My Father upon you; but you are to stay in the city until you are clothed with power from on high.”” Acts 1:8 “but you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth.”” 1 Corinthians 12:13 “For by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body, whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free, and we were all made to drink of one Spirit.” Ephesians 4:5 “one Lord, one faith, one baptism,”

VII. The RETURN back to EARTH is more than an egg! Acts 1:11 “They also said, “Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking into the sky? This Jesus, who has been taken up from you into heaven, will come in just the same way as you have watched Him go into heaven.””

VIII. ETERNITY without CHRIST is more than an egg! John 10:28 “and I give eternal life to them, and they will never perish; and no one will snatch them out of My hand.” John 14:1 ““Do not let your heart be troubled; believe in God, believe also in Me.” John 14:2 ““In My Father’s house are many dwelling places; if it were not so, I would have told you; for I go to prepare a place for you.” John 14:3 “If I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself, that where I am, there you may be also.” Revelation 20:12 “And I saw the dead, the great and the small, standing before the throne, and books were opened; and another book was opened, which is the book of life; and the dead were judged from the things which were written in the books, according to their deeds.” Revelation 20:12 “And I saw the dead, the great and the small, standing before the throne, and books were opened; and another book was opened, which is the book of life; and the dead were judged from the things which were written in the books, according to their deeds.”
