leading up to this story story Jesus knows
Luke 24:1–12 NIV
1 On the first day of the week, very early in the morning, the women took the spices they had prepared and went to the tomb. 2 They found the stone rolled away from the tomb, 3 but when they entered, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. 4 While they were wondering about this, suddenly two men in clothes that gleamed like lightning stood beside them. 5 In their fright the women bowed down with their faces to the ground, but the men said to them, “Why do you look for the living among the dead? 6 He is not here; he has risen! Remember how he told you, while he was still with you in Galilee: 7 ‘The Son of Man must be delivered over to the hands of sinners, be crucified and on the third day be raised again.’ ” 8 Then they remembered his words. 9 When they came back from the tomb, they told all these things to the Eleven and to all the others. 10 It was Mary Magdalene, Joanna, Mary the mother of James, and the others with them who told this to the apostles. 11 But they did not believe the women, because their words seemed to them like nonsense. 12 Peter, however, got up and ran to the tomb. Bending over, he saw the strips of linen lying by themselves, and he went away, wondering to himself what had happened.

Remember His Words

Luke 24:4–8 NIV
4 While they were wondering about this, suddenly two men in clothes that gleamed like lightning stood beside them. 5 In their fright the women bowed down with their faces to the ground, but the men said to them, “Why do you look for the living among the dead? 6 He is not here; he has risen! Remember how he told you, while he was still with you in Galilee: 7 ‘The Son of Man must be delivered over to the hands of sinners, be crucified and on the third day be raised again.’ ” 8 Then they remembered his words.
We see here that the women were so confused because they had forgotten what Jesus had told them.
Luke 9:21–22 NIV
21 Jesus strictly warned them not to tell this to anyone. 22 And he said, “The Son of Man must suffer many things and be rejected by the elders, the chief priests and the teachers of the law, and he must be killed and on the third day be raised to life.”
We can be the same way as these women and not remember what Christ has said in times of trouble
But we have to remember the gospel no matter what we are going through even when it feels like all is lost like they would have felt that day

Run To Tell The Story

Luke 24:9–10 NIV
9 When they came back from the tomb, they told all these things to the Eleven and to all the others. 10 It was Mary Magdalene, Joanna, Mary the mother of James, and the others with them who told this to the apostles.
We see that once they have understood what had happened they ran to tell others about what had happened
Are you like these women? Are you running to tell others that Christ has risen? Are you telling others what Christ has done in your life?

Wrestle With Wonder of Faith

Luke 24:11–12 NIV
11 But they did not believe the women, because their words seemed to them like nonsense. 12 Peter, however, got up and ran to the tomb. Bending over, he saw the strips of linen lying by themselves, and he went away, wondering to himself what had happened.
We see here that Peter and the other disciples did not believe that Jesus had risen. But Peter did something different than the other disciples he wrestled and it drove him to action.
We in the same way need to push into our doubts and seek God

Has there ever been a hard time in your life where you forgot the words of Jesus?
When is the last time you have told someone about what Christ has done? (They don’t have to answer this out loud)
What are some practical ways that you can tell others about Jesus this week? Who is a specific person in your life that needs to hear about Jesus?
How can we healthy wrestle with our faith like Peter did in this story?
