John 14:15-31.
Jesus continues His discourse to the Disciples that began in Ch 13.
He knows His time is running out and He is pouring as much into these men as He can, knowing full well they do not and cannot fully comprehend it all in the moment.
Jesus continues to emphasis the key of Obedience to His teachings and the Peace that comes from His presence- in Spite the growing turmoil surrounding them in their troubled world.
What we hope to gain from this passage, today, is the Foundational Truth that even in the worst of difficult times, we can know that the Peace and Comfort that comes only from the Holy Spirit, will bring us out of the darkest of moments- And into the Shining Light of Christs Love.
John also gives us more insight as to his eyewitness account in his first of three short letters, written about the same time as his Gospel.
in 1 John 4:13-18
1 John 4:13–18 ESV
By this we know that we abide in him and he in us, because he has given us of his Spirit. And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent his Son to be the Savior of the world. Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God. So we have come to know and to believe the love that God has for us. God is love, and whoever abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him. By this is love perfected with us, so that we may have confidence for the day of judgment, because as he is so also are we in this world. There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear. For fear has to do with punishment, and whoever fears has not been perfected in love.
So let’s begin with:

1- THE PROMISE

John 14:15–17 ESV
“If you love me, you will keep my commandments. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper, to be with you forever, even the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees him nor knows him. You know him, for he dwells with you and will be in you.
The promise of the Holy Spirit is presented as “another Helper”
Specifically for those who love God and keep His commandments.
This solidifies the idea that True peace and comfort comes from a working relationship with Jesus Christ and founded in a true love and obedience to Jesus.
One of the greatest of comforts comes from knowing that- In Jesus, we are never alone or lost in our troubles.
