Definition;

Memorial ; An object, institution or custom established or founded as a reminder of an important person or event held to be worth remembering in the life of the community.
Intro; We have been hearing messages concerning memorials lately. Sis. Jesica preached about the 12 stones that joshuah setup as a memorial after the children of Israel crossed the Jordan river.SIs. Eadey spoke on some memorials the lord told her about. and while she was preaching I got to thinking about and wondering what was the greatest memorial of all time so thought id share with you some of my thoughts.
Passover;
One of the first memorials God instructed the jews to institute is found in Exodus 12:13-17

13 And the blood shall be to you for a token(promise) upon the houses where ye are: and

Notice; that both elements of the communion are used here in this memorial. Both unleavened bread and the blood of the spotless lamb. The jews are instructed to kill the lamb in the evening and eat all of the lamb nothing is to be left till morning a lamb per house eat it with your shoes on your feet and loins girt.another words;
Be ready to go! Be ready to move out!
God said; This is a memorial to your people forever
BUT This memorial is not the greatest memorial of all time Although it does point to the memorial that is the greatest of all time .
The greatest memorial separates things!
It The old testament from the new testament
It separates the law from grace
And Judgment from Peace
sin from man allowing him once again to fellowship with God
this memorial not only separates but it joins things together ;
Judgement and peace , Law and Grace
Joins together the old and new testaments making them one beautiful book of the love of God
Im sure you know by now that the greatest memorial of all time is the cross of calvary
Two thousand years after Christ sacrifice on the Cross of calvary people still wear the cross around their necks. I see crosses on cars, in stores,
on bill boards, everywhere I look I see this memorial.
It is sold everywhere as a sign of christianity.
Its a sign of the living sacrifice Jesus Christ who died and paid for our sins upon that cross bringing together God and man in fellowship. Before this time man had no personal contact with God
THE WHOLE WORLD has to acknowledge this for it is this cross , this sacrifice , this day that separates
The time line of life from BC to AD or CE if you would rather on the calendars of history.
What was the definition of a memorial? Re read!
An object, institution, or a custom
established or founded as a reminder of an
Important person or event that is worth remembering in the life of a community
This memorial is both an object, and custom founded as a reminder and is both a important person and event.
I don’t believe there is and greater memorial in this world that of Jesus Christ and his cusafiction
He is the son of the living God ,
the first and the last,
the beginning and the end,
the King of kings,
The lion of the tribe of judah,
He is Emmanuel God with us
Most memorials are set in a high place so that everyone can see them!
Like Mount Rushmore you remember ;
nebacanezzer set up his golden statue of himself and commanded people to bow down to it .
Pilate and the Romans called Jesus the king of the jews . May I remind you their is no greater or higher authority than the King in the kingdom!
And according to Luke 23:38 this was written and put over him in Greek, Latin, and Hebrew so all would know Jesus is the King of the Jews

Ephesians 1: 19-23

All things have been put under his feet (Jesus has authority)
Jesus sits in heavenly places high above principality, power, and might, and dominion of this earth
His name is above every name named not only in this world but also in the next world!
Today we are with christ in his body and all things have been put under his body’s feet.
even if you have just been saved you have this authority
because of what jesus did for you on the cross of calvary
and this is why the cross of calvary is the greatest memorial of all time.
And we celabrate not only this memorial today.
But the proof of the power of the cross in our life
Is by the resurection of christ on the third day.
And he’s still the King of Kings and the lord of lords
And if you don’t know this jesus you can know him today.
And he can still make right everything that seems so wrong .
