The Mode

When we speak of the mode we must first ask, who is it that gets married?? Is it something that society or culture dictate?? Let us take a look at a few passages that clear things up for us.
In Genesis 2:18, God has created everything Adam has named all the living things and God still sees that he is still missing something. Let us look at this passage together
Genesis 2:18 “Then Yahweh God said, “it is not good that the man is alone. I will make for him a helper as his counterpart.””
In this verse we see clearly that man needs a helper and it is not good for him to be alone. This indicates that there is a distinct mode or operation for the particular partner in mind.
None of the living creatures were a counterpart. V19
None of the domesticated animals were a counterpart.
Nor Birds, wild animals, nothing was his counterpart, or a helper. V20
This is when we see who is the counterpart, a woman. Made from his flesh.
This makes us ask a few questions especially in today’s culture. Why not another man? Isn’t it told of us that a Dog is mans best friend? Why not two woman? Multiple questions can arise out of these simple passages.
The suitable helper had to be one that was like Man but not man in particular.
God brings the woman to the Man as it says in V22, and then Man, names her. What does he name her woman, for she was taken from man.
Then we see the words come to life in verse 24, that the man is to cling to his wife, after leaving Father and mother.
This seems to answer many of our questions, that the dictates of Marriage and the Mode is easily answered in Gods description, the man and his wife. The woman.
The absence of other options is the answer to our question. God had a distinct purpose for marriage and when He mandated it, did not need to give a list of all the no’s. He did by providing for us the perfect helper and in not creating another man for him to be with, for Man was already here. So the clear Mode of Marriage one man, one woman.
That may seem traditional, in the context of which were speaking, I can see many of you thinking, “Wasn’t that 4000 years ago”, or “Society and culture change”. Well let us take another look at what Jesus had to say about the matter.
Now the context of Matthew 19 is the Pharisees are trying to trap Jesus by asking him about what constitutes for divorce. We’re not going to be talking about that today but how Jesus responds, indicates that he too thinks that it one man, one women. Let us read his response to the Pharisees.
Matthew 19:4–6 “And he answered and said, “Have you not read that the one who created them from the beginning made them male and female and said, ‘On account of this a man will leave his father and his mother and will be joined to his wife, and the two will become one flesh’? So then, they are no longer two but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, man must not separate.””
He AFFIRMS the Mode of the Old Testament Marriage. He does not change, abolish, or even give a any other reason. He just uses the OT to let them know that God always has had a desire for one man, one woman.
Now I can see you saying right now, along with culture that, that is in the context of divorce, or it does exclude, but let me give you this
