Opening Framework:

(Easter / Sent Intro )
Scripture: Luke 24:13-19
Message Title: The detour Is The Destination
Prayer
Transition Statement

Me: My life being built on Detours / Taking some wrong turns on trips

Detours are all around us…
Acts - Paul’s headed to Asia, but the spirit of God routes him to Macedonia instead
Ruth - She goes backwards to Naomi’s homeland not realizing it’s where God was going to use her
Exodus - God’s people in the wilderness after freedom
Joseph - Detour through slavery/prison before his redemption
Moses - 40 years in the dessert before the call God had on his life

We: We’ve all been on a road that feels like it’s going nowhere

We’ve all prayed and felt like we didn’t get an answer…
We’ve all hit a point where we didn’t know what the next step was…
We’ve all wished time moved faster or slower…

God: The God that meets you at the detours

Luke 24:13 - Verse 13 - Emmaus
Luke 24:13 - Verse 13 - Seven miles
Luke 24:16 - Verse 16 - Kept (Had to finish the walk)
Luke 24:17 - Verse 17 - Jesus asks about Jesus
Luke 24:33 - Verse 33a - They complete the detour…

You: So where are you at right now?

The road you didn’t plan
The road you didn’t want
The road you can’t quit
The road you thought would be shorter
The road where you’re going in circles
What if… The road you’re wishing you could get off of, is the road God wants to meet you on

We: We’ve all been on these roads

We’re not a people who pretend we always know where we’re going
We’re a people who walk with Jesus—even when the road feels hard
We’re a people who don’t rush the journey—we let God speak as we go

Alter Call:

Maybe you feel like you’ve taken a wrong turn
Maybe you’re on a road filled with questions, pain, or disappointment
Maybe you’re on a road where it feels like God is silent
But today, just like in Luke 24, He’s walking with you—even if you don’t see it yet
Jesus… stay with me on this road. Open my eyes. Help me see you here.
