Introduction

Dr. Lenore Campbell wrote in Medical Economics, “Early in my career as a doctor I went to see a patient who was coming out of anesthesia. Far off church chimes sounded. "I must be in heaven," the woman murmured. Then she saw me. "No, it can't be," she said. "There's Dr. Campbell."
In all circumstances and conditions we look to Jesus. We don’t have to look at anyone else or anywhere other than Christ. Looking to Jesus we will never be disappointed.
Peter begins verse six with the word, “wherefore” which calls our attention to what has already been said. The great blessing of “tasting” and “coming” is explained in this one verse. Christianity is founded upon the “Chief Corner Stone,” and for those who are saved He never disappoints them.
There is a Foundation so Mighty - “the Chief Corner Stone.”
a. The living stone: (v.4) Peter said he was chosen of God and that is why He is the living stone of our salvation today.
Revelation 1:18 “I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death.”
b. The rejected stone: (v.7) When Jesus came into this world, He came as the Messiah of the Jews, but those religious builders rejected Him. Rejected by the builders, He became the “head of the corner” for all who would fall upon that Stone.
c. The offensive stone: (v.8) Peter said they stumbled at the very words of God which had told so much about Him, and they were offended at the lowly birth and His humble ministry.
Jesus is the Rock of Ages, the smitten stone from whence comes the water of life. He is the tested and tried stone that has weathered every storm.
2. There is a Faith so Miraculous - “he that believeth on him.”
The faith which saves the soul is confidence in a Person, and that person is Jesus Christ. The Lord Jesus Himself, the Son of God, is the object of our faith; it is upon Him that we lean. Salvation is truly a miracle taking place. Every born again child of God is a living miracle. They are the evidence of what the grace of God can do.
a. Jesus is God’s Appointed Saviour of Men
b. Jesus is God’s Approved Saviour of Men
c. Jesus is God’s Anointed Saviour of Men
3. There is a Freedom so Manifested - “shall not be confounded”
Here we have the blessing of salvation and the evil that will never come upon the person who believes on the Lord Jesus Christ. The meaning of this phrase, “is never disappointed.” All that Christ has promised to be He will be to those who trust Him.
Isaiah 28:16 “Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD, Behold, I lay in Zion for a foundation a stone, a tried stone, a precious corner stone, a sure foundation: he that believeth shall not make haste.” This means not driven to and from worrying.
Romans 9:33 “As it is written, Behold, I lay in Sion a stumblingstone and rock of offence: and whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.” This means that we shall never say we made a mistake by trusting Him.

Conclusion

Are you disappointed today in self effort? Are you disappointed in religion? Friend, try Jesus! He will never disappoint.
