The Keys of the Kingdom
Matthew 16:19 AMP
I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; and whatever you bind (declare to be improper and unlawful) on earth must be what is already bound in heaven; and whatever you loose (declare lawful) on earth must be what is already loosed in heaven.
When was the last time you looked thru your keyring?
Let’s us use our imagination, let’s put on some new glasses, remember The Bible was not written to us but for us.
So we have dig a little deep down.
When you think of keys, what comes to your mind?
Keys are made to open doors and close doors.
Doors, the physical kind, and the places to which they give access.
doors. Biblical references to doors are both literal and symbolic. In a literal sense, the Bible refers not only to doors to houses, but also to tents, buildings, and parts of buildings…
doors in a biblical context, highlighting both their literal and symbolic meanings. Literally, doors serve as barriers in walls, found in various settings such as homes, shrines, and temples. They are mentioned in several biblical passages, illustrating their roles in protection, privacy, and communication. Symbolically, doors represent various themes, including sin, hope, and access to eternal life, faith, and community.
Matthew 18:18 AMP
Truly I tell you, whatever you forbid and declare to be improper and unlawful on earth must be what is already forbidden in heaven, and whatever you permit and declare proper and lawful on earth must be what is already permitted in heaven.
In the AMP version we see how there must be an agreement with heaven.
But we have a problem.
A lot of us have a problem.
We all have a key chain with keys.
In what ways can we identify which keys on our spiritual keyring we may no longer use or understand?
Matthew 18:18 ESV
Truly, I say to you, whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.
Some keys we know what they can open.
But some keys we have no idea.
They been in that key ring for so long, we have no idea what they open.
DOOR Doors and doorways are places of transition. We move through them to the outside or into another room to greet new people; we close doors and find quiet and solitude. The door is an important symbol.
We have so many keys that we don’t know what some of these keys open.
We have forgotten the doors that they opened or closed.
We must go thru our keyring (spiritually speaking).
Once, I lost my car keys while running errands. I remember jokingly saying, "What if I just start my car with a magic touch?" Others laughed, but I searched everywhere. Eventually, I discovered them in the cup holder! Just as we sometimes search high and low for simple things, we often overlook the access we already have to God's Kingdom through Jesus. He’s the key to everything we seek, already within our grasp!
The Authority of the Keys: Unlocking Heaven's Doors
Tyndale Bible Dictionary Keys of the Kingdom

KEYS OF THE KINGDOM Symbolic description of the authority given by Jesus to Peter in

Though the mountain is the customary location of theophanies in Israel, divine appearances do occur at other sites. In many of these cases, the manifestation of God is marked by other geographical features which represent portals or points of transition within the natural environment between the divine and human worlds. One of these geographical features is the water source, be it a spring, well, or river, which represents a link to the subterranean realm.

Be careful what door you close or open.
Remember that we are talking Spiritual things. Matthew 3:7
Many of us have open doors that should have never been opened in this lifetime.
If we could only go back change that, but we cannot physically but we can spiritually.
But with Yahweh all things are possible. Matthew 19:26
Deuteronomy 6:9 NASB95
“You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.
Deuteronomy 11:20 NASB95
“You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates,
We call this a Mezuzah.
What is the Church?
The word translated church in the New Testament is from the Greek word ekklesia which means an assembly or congregation. It does not refer to a building rather it refers instead to people. In the New Testament, it generally refers to believers Jew or Gentile who have placed their faith in Jesus Christ and have received the Holy Spirit following Pentecost in Acts 2. It may refer to a local assembly such as the church at Thessalonica (1 Thess 1:1) or the universal church of all believers in Jesus Christ in this age everywhere.
You see today you belong to the Body of Christ.
You are a believer or are you??
Ephesians 2:19–22 AMP
Therefore you are no longer outsiders (exiles, migrants, and aliens, excluded from the rights of citizens), but you now share citizenship with the saints (God’s own people, consecrated and set apart for Himself); and you belong to God’s [own] household. You are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets with Christ Jesus Himself the chief Cornerstone. In Him the whole structure is joined (bound, welded) together harmoniously, and it continues to rise (grow, increase) into a holy temple in the Lord [a sanctuary dedicated, consecrated, and sacred to the presence of the Lord]. In Him [and in fellowship with one another] you yourselves also are being built up [into this structure] with the rest, to form a fixed abode (dwelling place) of God in (by, through) the Spirit.
If you are born again, then you now have the authority to close all those demonic doors that we’ve all opened.
Luke 11:52 AMP
Woe to you, lawyers (experts in the Mosaic Law)! For you have taken away the key to knowledge; you did not go in yourselves, and you hindered and prevented those who were entering.
Satan would like us to believe the lie that we cannot close those doors, but he is a liar John 8:44.
This is why we must allow God to change our character.
Revelation 1:18 AMP
And the Ever-living One [I am living in the eternity of the eternities]. I died, but see, I am alive forevermore; and I possess the keys of death and Hades (the realm of the dead).
Jesus has the ultimate key to eternal life or damnation.
In Jesus there is no condemnation if you are in Christ Jesus Romans 8:1.
John 14:6 AMP
Jesus said to him, I am the Way and the Truth and the Life; no one comes to the Father except by (through) Me.
Theres a picture out there that shows Jesus knocking at the door of your heart Revelation 3:20, art work.
The funny thing is that there is no nob on the door.
It opens from the inside.
This is why you must invite Jesus into your heart.
Revelation 9:1 AMP
THEN THE fifth angel blew [his] trumpet, and I saw a star that had fallen from the sky to the earth; and to the angel was given the key of the shaft of the Abyss (the bottomless pit).
Revelation 1:18 AMP
And the Ever-living One [I am living in the eternity of the eternities]. I died, but see, I am alive forevermore; and I possess the keys of death and Hades (the realm of the dead).
Revelation 20:1 AMP
THEN I saw an angel descending from heaven; he was holding the key of the Abyss (the bottomless pit) and a great chain was in his hand.
Isaiah 22:22 AMP
And the key of the house of David I will lay upon his shoulder; he shall open and no one shall shut, he shall shut and no one shall open.
Let me ask you a question.
Who or what holds the key of your heart.
What door are you not willing to close and allow God access.
Mark 8:36 AMP
For what does it profit a man to gain the whole world, and forfeit his life [in the eternal kingdom of God]?
It’s time to clean up that key chain and get rid of those keys of no use and add the keys that God has given us for our benefit.
Revelation 3:7 AMP
And to the angel (messenger) of the assembly (church) in Philadelphia write: These are the words of the Holy One, the True One, He Who has the key of David, Who opens and no one shall shut, Who shuts and no one shall open:
